5e, LFP, FREE, Fri EST

Hi all, I’ve been playing ttrpgs for 20 years with a fair amount of DMing along the way.  I’m currently looking to fill one spot for a homebrew campaign.  Our current group is 3 irl friends, ages 30ish to 40ish (younger players are welcome but still 18+) one veteran and one newbie so other newbies welcome though I’d prefer if you were familiar with 5e.  We’ll be playing on roll20 and discord.  Play times are tentatively Friday 6pm EST starting feb 18th. A bit about the campaign.  It’ll run from 1st to 5th and is set primarily in the town you grew up in or have resided in for quite a while.  This is your home, the shop keepers, townsfolk, and farmers are your friends and family so your decisions in the campaign will have a big impact on those people in your lives.  I’ve spent many campaigns where PCs have had to save the world and be the saviors, I want this campaign to feel like your choices have consequences that have a lasting impact on your characters and their immediate lives. The group I usually play with usually consists of heavy combat and light RP so I’m aiming to have a pretty even split between the two this time but I really want it want to be quality RP so if that’s a strong suit for you that’s a bonus, especially if you’re the kind of player to bring out other PCs role playing.  I’m average at RP myself so I’m hoping by dming it’ll give me a chance to improve my own RP skills.  If that sounds interesting to you answer the following questions or if you have any other questions feel free to ask, I’m generally very prompt in replies and I encourage a lot of conversation between sessions. I don’t have a lot of rules, be kind to everyone in the group, no politics, no religion. Name: Ciff (Oginme) Age: 60 Experience: Started with Basic/AD&D (1e), then skipped to 5e. Most of the early years as player, 5e almost exclusively as DM with the exception of a couple of guest appearances.  I am currently running two year+ campaigns where most of the players are from 22 to mid-40's. Your personality type (shy, center of attention, group leader, talkative, etc. (no wrong answers, groups need all types imo): I slot myself where the party needs.  Generally, I am a team builder, trying to help others shine when the opportunity allows.  If I take the lead, it is usually for role playing -- both of the guest appearances I made were to help the other players get into role playing a bit more and to open up about their character and backstories.  IRL, I am generally more introverted and quiet unless I have something important to add.  t the gaming table (since I usually DM), I am always working to get the players to take the lead on conversation. Availability:  OK, here is the catch.  I can be available on Friday nights around 8 PM est.  I get home from work around 6 and have farm chores (dairy goats) until 7ish.  We are also coming into spring, so I will have more work with kids (baby goats) to feed and occasionally may need to step out to help with deliveries (kidding). Type of character you usually play:  As DM, I play them all.  I can easily slot myself into something which compliments the other party members and would create an interesting and deep character to fit the world we would be adventuring. What you look for in a group, DM, and a game:  For the DM, someone who will let the group help create the story and add to the world lore.  The DM does not need to be a great DM to allow for an excellent story to be told by DM and players alike. For the group, people who want to be part of the group and can have their differences and still find common cause to travel and work together.  For the game, a good story, evocative plot lines, freedom of player choice within the flexibility of the story line the DM has prepared. Anything else you’d like to share:  For my games, I try to balance RP with exploration and combat to match the player's expectations and desires. I added the farm in the above comment for availability. My current job is in product development and commercialization.  I read anything which peaks my interest, brew beer, and spend inordinate amounts of time trying to improve as a DM.
Name - Ken Age - 34yo Experience - Started on 5e back in the 90's with friends and been playing since. I like 5e and the integration potential it has to bring news players to the table. Your personality type (shy, center of attention, group leader, talkative, etc. (no wrong answers, groups need all types imo). I like trying to be the goofball but can get serious when it comes to it. I let the rp take me where it will. Availability - Fri and Sunday 8pm est. Type of character you usually play - I am usually a front liner/tank but looking to build a caster for a long lasting campaign. What you look for in a group, DM, and a game. I am looking for a group with a great story to be told and fun players to enjoy it. It is a game that should have its challenges but with the right approach can be overcomed by the players in a meaningful way. DM I tend to like are firm but fair and shouldn't hold punches. Players need to learn to overcome struggle. And for the group team work is key. Being stubborn doesn't get anyone anywhere Anything else you’d like to share. I hope I get picked up by you for this group. Dnd has always been a blast to me and I am trying to have a great story to be apart of.
Name - Mathew Age - 29 Experience – 1 year of Pathfinder 2e Your personality type - In the past I have played shy and anxious characters Availability available - Friday Saturday and Sunday nights Type of character you usually play - rogue or caster What you look for in a group, DM, and a game – I’m looking for a group that is welcoming and there to have fun. In terms of DMs its hard for me to say what I prefer because I don’t have too much experience, but I guess it would be someone who is able to tell a good story. For the game I am just looking to have a good time. I am easy going so I feel like I could fit into any group and adapt to the group dynamic. I would consider myself somewhat new to D&D but am open to learn and am quick to pick things up. Anything else you’d like to share – Just hoping I get picked
Hey folks, we filled the open spot for now, thank you for inquiring! If I decide to add another player in the future I’ll update this post. Cheers
