[LFM] [Paid] [5e] A dystopian alternate history of the Forgotten Realms, where everything has gone wrong - "A World Without Heroes" - play in a world where the villains have already won, and history must be turned back - Sundays at 8pm GMT

This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of US$25 per weekly session, due at the start of the session, through a 3 rd party site. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. Warning: This campaign, even this campaign description, will inevitably include spoilers for practically every 5th edition hardcover adventure! The best stories begin with "what if...?" What if everything had gone wrong? What if, when Tiamat rose from the Well of Dragons, when the Demon Princes invaded the Underdark, when the Frostmaiden cast her spell across the North, there was nobody there to stop them? Explore the fate of the Forgotten Realms, if heroes had never stepped in to save the day. This campaign begins with the premise that all of the events of the beloved 5th edition hardcover adventures have occurred without our heroes' intervention: Nobody stepped in to prevent the rise of the Queen of Dragons, who now rules from a floating citadel above the site of her rebirth. Nobody was brave enough to delve into the Underdark and prevent the great cities of the drow and duergar from falling to the onslaught of demons, who now rule over the ruins. After defeating the other elemental cults, the Eternal Flame summoned their prince into the material plane, turning Dessarin valley into a fiery inferno. The archlich Acererak completed his plan to father a new Death God in the ruins of Omu. With Elturel fallen, Baldur's Gate is now the next city to be recruited to fight in the Blood War for the General of Avernus. And from the frozen North, the Frostmaiden's glacial spell creeps south where it will inevitably collide with Imix's fiery armies. The darkest hour, however, always comes before dawn. Unexpected allies coordinate small pockets of resistance, hidden from the eyes of the draconic, infernal, and elemental tyrants. Those who turned a blind eye, those who waited too long, and those who were too young to fight, must now take on the mantle of leadesrship, and change the course of a history gone wrong. The campaign uses the concept of a "spiral" campaign, which begins at the very local level during the "heroic" tier (1st to 5th level), and gradually expands to encompass more global, even more cosmic events, encounters, and antagonists. The players will have a lot of input on what content will be included in the campaign, right from the beginning, when they will choose as a group where they want to begin their adventure. Playstyle will evolve as the PCs rise in power, as low level challenges become trivial. It is impossible to provide a list of detailed content warnings for an adventure with such a large scope. We will discuss our personal limits on what content we do and do not wish to see included in the game during session zero, using a technique called Lines and Veils that allows players, including the GM, to set hard and soft limits and what they will and will not tolerate in a game. Of course, this is not a final discussion, and we can return to this at any point if any player feels uncomfortable or unable to fully enjoy the game. Any language or behaviour that makes other players feel unsafe or unwelcome will not be tolerated. All necessary content will be provided electronically, including maps, character sheets, and handouts. Players will be given access to the Roll20 compendium to create their characters and to keep leveling up as the campaign continues.
