Cant show toek nameplate to players

So, I have had a workaround this for a while, but I would like to be able to show a token nameplate to my players - they walk into a tavern and can see the barkeep is called john, the bard in the corner is called fruitloaf, and so on. However, the only was I can do this is if I make the token "controllable by all players". This was *everyone* can see the name of the token (and their hp, if need be). This has a drawback, however, of the players sometimes moving the NPC/monster tokens by accident. I have tried going into the game options tab on the site before you start up the game and have changed it so players can [see] and [edit] name of token. This doesn't seem to do a thing. Any advice? Am I missing something? I was going to start subscribing for roll20 pro but I'm still finding it so janky (especially on the phone) that I'm worried it's really not gonna be worth it....
The game options tab only affects new  tokens, not tokens that are already out on the VTT.  After you change the game options, then you have to go to the in-game settings and click on 'Apply Default Settings' which will make those settings apply to ALL tokens in game.  Or you have to adjust individual tokens by clicking on the small settings button above 'Represents Character' and make sure it is set to 'See'.
I just want to chime in and point out for some strange reason there are 2 different settings you have to enable for everyone to see nameplates and its really stupid how they did this.  See Jarrens last screenshot?  You need both see and edit done for sure, but then look right below that popup, theres a blue checkbox for "Nameplate".  That also has to be checked.  I know, it makes no sense and is annoying.  I'm sure theres a reason in another game system or some niche scenario but whenever I've used tokens in roll20, see/edit should be the only thing I need.  Make sure all 3 of those boxes are checked and the players will see the name under the token.

Yeah, the main (easy to see) one is whether the name plate is visible to the GM, then the second (hidden in a mouse over menu) is whether players see it.  There really should be some better labeling for the options.

Technically, the main (easy) one is for whether the nameplate is on at all . If it's on, then anyone with view permissions can see it, and always the gm. (Sorry for the "Um, Actually")
