Chat lagging

We had 4 people on the other night using the chat window. Twice during the night, I (as the GM) was no longer getting responses from the players (they were all online still and able to see eachother's posts, but I couldn't). To remedy it, we had to exit the program and log back in.
What is the internet connection speed of the GM? I think that it depends on that and not on a Roll20 server. Of course it could be a glitch, so it's better to ask for more details.
Good point. Actually, I was not on my standard line (at home), and using my phone's 3G signal (as a WiFi hotspot) on my laptop...so it could have been that. I will see if there are any continued issues this week when I am at home on a fast connect.
A 3G connection like that may have issues where it is losing its connection to the server and then having to reconnect. That works *most* of the time, but occasionally you don't reconnect properly, which would cause that issue. We're working on making it so that doesn't happen. In addition, the only person who should need to reconnect/reload in that situation is you, so you don't need to make your players reload. (If everyone's having to reload, let us know, that would be a different problem entirely).
Great, thanks Riley. I don't normally use my phone as a WiFi hotspot, but I was in a pinch! We were able to run a pretty good game over even that connection though! (with the exception of the lag).
Can I join a game from random players or do they all have to be invited?
