Voice: Voice will be run on Discord Everything Else: Roll20 is used for everything else: character sheets, maps, handouts, music, and sound effects Marooned literally outside the walls of the Stygian city of Khemi, you face an uncertain future. The trade season, when foreigners are allowed in this one corner of this forbidden kingdom, a city where sorcerer priests hold power, is coming to an end. Hungry, homeless, your stockpile of coin growing thinner with each sunset, your fate seems written within the hungry eyes watching you from the River Styx. It seems enough of your number die or are too weak to resist the crocodiles when they come at dusk, which keeps them sated -- for now. But your numbers are growing fewer and they are growing bolder. They too seem to sense that your time in Khemi is at an end. It is on this day however that you meet Nebu, Nebu el-Hamed. The trading has been good and Nebu has one last caravan to send north. “Come on you, dogs,” the Shemite calls out, “if you have skills, I will take you. I need camel drivers, animal tenders, cooks, and guards. I will only take strong backs mind you, and you must prove that you can do your job. There is food in return for a good day’s work. Better that you eat than feeding the river, yes? What say you?” A whisk strikes you across your back. You snatch it, and growl. But instead of being put out, you look up to see Nebu grinning at you. “Well, there seems to be some fight left in this one. Come my friend, this stinking mud is no place for you. Come join my caravan. I will be honest, there is little pay. But if you work hard and the journey ends well, there will be a bonus for survivors at the end. What do you say? Better then becoming a slave in a Stygian galley or…” he looks up to the dark towers of the sorcerer priests that loom over Khemi. Your eyes follow his, imagining in the dark windows that there are eyes looking down at you. “Well, let’s just say that there are worse things than crocodiles that prowl this city at night.” This is a game of action and adventure in the world of Robert E. Howard’s Conan tales. It is a dynamic fantasy game that encourages creative thinking, initiative, and a unique system that fosters team cooperation and strategy. It has very different mechanics than most people are used to from a fantasy game. Combat in this game is epic and visceral. But the setting is a world of wonder, of vast and varied lands and kingdoms built upon the bones of ancient empires so old that they would be only whispers and tales were it not for the eerie haunted ruins scattered across the known lands. Will your accomplishments be such that the sands of time wash over them, or will you carve your name into stony columns for generations to come to marvel at your deeds? Your fate and fortune are once again in your hands, if only you have the strength to grip what fortune has brought you. These are the days of high adventure! We’ll be running through the basic rules and character sheet at the start of session, and then, well, the rest is up to you. But don’t expect your gods to save you. This is Hyboria. This is j ust an easy-going game day to have some fun and socialize. We'll be using the module The Dwellers Below . This is likely to be a multi-session game, as the amount of content seems like more than can be done in just one session. So people signing up should be prepared to commit to two or three sessions, until the adventure is completed. As always for my games, the primary rules for interaction are courtesy, patience, acceptance, tolerance, and having respect for everyone. Newbies are welcome. Games are always free. Having or knowing the rules is never required. And for " one-off" social games like this, characters will be provided. All you need to do is show up, ready to have some fun. PM me if interested.
