Wednesday October 17, 2018 9:00PM When Paladin gets
back to the base he finds someone waiting there for him. (Cyberpunk).
Cyberpunk is a bit abrasive and points out that the Brooklyn Brigade
has a severe turn-over problem.
After talking to
him a for a while Paladin notices that Cyberpunk is not as insane as
Volt seemed to be but is concerned by Cyberpunk hinting that he has
had (or is having) trouble with the law.
The group is polled, Lady Paper and
Kismet agree to extending provisional membership to Cyberpunk.
Paladin cautions him that the group is preparing to ‘go to war’
with a powerful group of villains and criminals. He gives Cyberpunk
the option to ‘go active’ after the battle is settled next
Wednesday. Cyberpunk says, basically, that he was in for a penny and
for a pound, and was gong active…now.
Kismet finds
herself walking along a soothing bubbling brook on the path through
pristine forest. It is very pretty. Suddenly she is greeted by a
young woman with chalk white skin, white hair, bright blue eyes, and
pointed ears. The is wearing a black costume that leaves only her
head and hands exposed with a even darker cape. The woman calls her
by name and introduces herself as Deslee.
Kismet remarks that
the environs are not to her liking so Deslee changes it to resemble
the blasted landscape of Hell. Kismet says she was thinking more of a
graveyard. Hell is replaced with a nice creepy graveyard under a full
moon with a decaying mansion in the distance.
Deslee tells Kismet
that her friends are doomed. Kismet, on the other hand, impressed
someone and they are willing to make allowances so that she can be
spared. She tells Kismet that her last name is Saietta, Deslee
Saietta.
Kismet tries to
force Deslee from her dream or at least wake herself up. Deslee tells
her that the Saietta family is far more powerful than the Brooklyn
Brigade can imagine. She claims the family started with Azor 50,000
years ago. She then mocks Kismet for not understanding the
significance of that name.
The visitation ends
when Deslee tells Kismet the family needs some fresh blood. She can
join the family and live, or stand with her friends and die.
Kismet then falls
back into her standard dreams.
Thursday October 18, 2018 Paladin stayed awake until 5AM on
monitor duty but no emergencies require his attention. He then
retires for the night planning on sleeping until noon.
7:30AM Cyberpunk wakes at
his Manhattan apartment. Kismet awakens about the same general time.
9:00AM
The doorbell at the
Bunker, the super secret base, will be rung. PART officer Stan Brown
and two uniformed officers wait for someone to answer.
Paladin is roused. The officers will
tell him that Abigail Zola’s (Lady Paper) housekeeper found a large
pool of blood and some bones in her dining room. The bones were taken
from a deep region of the body and from the amount of blood the
police are treating the house as a homicide crime scene. They believe
the victim was Lady Paper herself.
Paladin tries to
reach Lady Paper over the mind link but is unsuccessful.
Kismet goes with
the police to the Zola manor in New Jersey. She waits for the
forensic team to finish processing the scene then she uses her
retrocognition on the table to see what happened here.
She sees Lady Paper
grab a bite to eat when she got home from visiting the Saietta estate
with the rest of the group. Then suddenly she touches her temple and
slumps over onto the table.
Then a big, nude,
yellow skinned creatures with red eyes walks over to her. There is a
miniature copy of him riding on his shoulder. The two then start to
eviscerate Lady Paper, eating some (the big one eats a lot), and
wrapping the rest up to take with them. When they have finished their
ghoulish labor they step away from the table and vanish.
While Kismet is
scoping out Lady Paper home a bicycle courier comes to the base.
Paladin has him leave the package at the door.
He comes up and
collects it. It contains four coupons for a free meal for the coupon
holder and a guest at Racks restaurant. Also in the package is a
condolence letter from the Saietta family.
Noon:
Cyberpunk reappears
at the base. Paladin asks him questions about his abilities and,
after telling him about the murder of Lady Paper, if he truly wants
to be part of the Brooklyn Brigade.
He said that he
did. Then he started searching through the databases he had access to
get information concerning the Saietta family holdings and wealth. He
finds computerized bank records for Manfred going back to the start
of the computer banking revolution in 1995 some 23 years ago.
More
records that were added to the system retroactively showing Manfred
paying taxes on property going back at least 60 years. Worming
through records of various types he finds that the Saietta family
owns a frightening amount of New York real estate either directly or
through shell accounts and subsidiaries. (<-
Post Game Embellishment)
Cyberpunk finds
members of the family under various names (through marriage)
scattered throughout America and around the world. In America Saietta
family clusters can be found in New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans,
Chicago, Henderson (Tennessee), and Lebel-sur-Quevillon (Quebec
Canada).
There is a high
likelihood there are more branches that are illegitimate (not
traceable through marrages or birth records).
When Kismet gets
back from Lady Paper’s house she recants what she found. Using her
mental powers she shares what she saw. The team begins to research
fell creatures that match the descriptions of the creatures.
They find an
abundance of references to yellow demons, demons with red eyes and
tails, and yellow demons with red eyes and tails but no hits on
demons of that general description that travel in pairs of a 68 Extra
Fat and a 12 Dwarf (Smokey and the Bandit reference).
Cyberpunk then
hacks the computers at the Saietta’s long island estate. He finds
streaming services, lots of porn sites, and on one computer a large
depository of recipes (mostly for pork). He changes all the recipes
to include large quantities of salt. Cyberpunk does not tell anyone
that he does this, it is his personal F-U to the Saietta family.
10:00 AM Paladin has a
meeting with PRIMUS (Director Andrea Canfield). Canfield absorbs the
information he gives her on the Saietta. She even agrees to turn a
blind eye to the massive battle royal Paladin is setting up between
the Saietta family and the forces of Good. She will have some teams
on unassigned emergency standby in case the row expands to affect the
citizens. They can also be used if the heroes have bitten off more
than they can chew and require reinforcements. After all PRIMUS is a
peace keeping agency as well as law enforcement.
Records of the
battle can, at the very least, reveal the Saietta family as having
Super Power Beings as members. Having this data officially will
certainly be useful to the Organized Crime units of New York, SAT,
and the FBI.
The Saiettas are
suspected of being a minor crime family but are completely off the
radar when it comes to being SPBs.
Director Canfield
does caution that officially PRIMUS isn’t involved and the
vigilante community needs to tread lightly. The situation with
Constable proved that Manfred Saietta is cagey enough to use law
enforcement to protect him and his family from super heroes.
Following the
meeting with Director Canfield Paladin starts calling the people on
the reinforcement list to make sure they are still committed to the
conflict. He then has Cyberpunk help him find a place to have the
battle. The properties the battlefield must have are: unpopulated,
away from the city, and be a treeless open area. Places like a cow
pasture or something similar.
Kismet calls
LexCorp and speaks with Professor Bearclaw, the man in charge of the
Kryptonian cloning experiments. She suggests having their prototypes
join the Brooklyn Brigade in the battle with a super power crime
syndicate.
Prof. Bearclaw is
concerned. He wanted the field test of the Krypto-clones to be in a
controlled environment, a ‘street fight’ is not what he had in
mind. The condition is anything but controlled. There is a chance
that valuable LexCorp property could be destroyed.
Kismet says the
situation will be controlled but fails to convince the professor. He
does, however, agree to consider it. Battle is scheduled for next
Wednesday so there is time to weigh the option. He will contact
Kismet with his answer ASAP.
After the LexCorp
call she goes to Cleopatra’s Needle, a statue in Central Park where
the Master told the group to leave notes for him if they wanted to
contact the Circle. Kismet wants to contact the Circle.
Almost immediately
she receives a invitation from the Master to come to his garden for
tea. She accepts and is gated to the edge of the garden.
Joining the Master
he begins going to a painfully long and complex tea ceremony. When
the ceremony is completed she is allowed to tell him the purpose of
her visit. She shows him the visions she gleaned from the murder
scene of Lady Paper.
The Master will
tell Kismet that the creature(s) that ate Lady Paper are not fell
creatures but are creatures of man. They were birthed into the world
and belong to this world not a nether realm.
Kismet tells the
Master that the Saiettas are trying to strip away the Brigade’s
defenses making them vulnerable. The Saiettas might be trying to kill
all of us before the duel begins! The Master says
that Ebon Fire and Moonsilver are the most likely to join the
Brooklyn Brigade’s duel. He will give her message to all the
members of the Circle, more might be willing. Kismet and the
Master talk for a while and she mentions Deslee Saietta entered her
dreams. The Master cautions that might make Deslee a very dangerous
foe indeed. Kismet relates the conversation they shared in the dream
realm. When she mentions the name of Azor the master becomes acutely
agitated.
He tells her she
must leave. He hurriedly sends her away. ‘Azor? He who
draws the Dark? It can’t be! Go, now. You must go now! You need
help, I will look into this!’
Kismet heads back
to the ‘super secret base’ and tells the rest of the group about
the Master’s reaction. She then uses her retrocognition power to
see the past of the coupons.
After the group issued their challenge to
Manfred he and Bruno went back inside the house. Bruno asks if they
are really going to duel. Manfred will answer.
Manfred:
‘Of course not. We aren’t stupid. It’s is trap. We have not
lived so long by walking into traps’ Bruno:
‘Then what are we going to do?’ Manfred:
‘Enjoy our dinner.’
The
next day Manfred will start to prepare.
Manfred:
‘They must have their preparations done or are getting them ready.
They know from the execution of Vain that we are a family of powered
individuals. If they are smart they will have us outnumbered 3 to 1
or more.’ Bruno:
‘We are a large family. So what do we do?’ Manfred:
‘We strip away their the defenses. Then we agitate them so they
make rash decisions, that is when they will make mistakes.’
He then calls Roxy in to his office. He
gives her the passes and tells her to take them to Lacy at Racks.
Manfred: ‘Have Lacy arrange for a these
to be delivered to the Brooklyn Brigade. Have her use a courier
service, a bicycle delivery should be fine.’
Roxy: (Objecting to running this errand,
‘Dad I have other things to do.’
Manfred: ‘Roxy you will do as you are
told. Now go!’
She obeys.
At Racks she will walk into Lacy’s
office as if she owned the place.
Roxy: ‘Call a bike courier. Have these
delivered to the Brooklyn Brigade.’
Lacy: ‘I won’t get involved in this.
I don’t want anything to do with it!’
Roxy (angrily): ‘You are already
involved. You will do as you are told! You will serve by doing as you
are commanded or you will serve by being put on a plate!’
Lacy (weakly): ‘I won’t get
involved.’
Roxy leaves the office. Lacy contacts a
bike courier and arranged to have the condolence letter and coupons
delivered.
Paladin realized
that the timing is off. Manfred arranged for the letter before Lady
Paper was killed and cannibalized. He was behind Lady Paper’s
death!
Cyberpunk searches
the net to get information on Azor. He learns he was an ancient god.
He was a god of death and darkness. There are images of Azor using
his power of darkness drawing life energy from his victims.
The texts Cyberpunk
uncovers say that Azor was the source of three bloodlines: The
Nocturnal, The Blood, and the Others.
The Nocturnals were
his monstrous children. They were deformed and ugly, but very strong
and powerful. The Blood were perfect in form, beautiful, and very
powerful. They were also mad. The Blood were Azor’s favored
children. The third bloodline are barely mentioned. They lived among
humanity, seen but never recognized for what they were.
Azor ruled for
untold centuries caring for his worshipers and his children until he
left. He gathered the Blood together along with the faithful and
retreated from the world to a paradise where he remains to this day
ruling the worthy.
He left the
Nocturnals and the Others behind to live among those unworthy to join
him in paradise.
After Azor’s
departure ancient man rallied against the evil demigods he left
behind. The cost in lives and blood were mind boggling but man was
successful and the demigods were all destroyed.
Kismet wants to get
an original statue depicting Azor so she can retrocog it. They
contact their acquaintance Rosario Boyd, the curator of the MET
Cloisters museum. Mr. Boyd has such a statue in the museum.
He asks, 'You
aren't going to steal it, are you?’ Kismet answers that ‘We don’t
want it.’ Mr. Boyd agrees to
let the heroes have access to the statue. When has not yet be agreed
upon.
