mech sized battlemaps

I'm running a game set in the battletech universe (giant 3 story stompy robots rule the battlefield) I want the players to have a battle in a city, but I've been having problems making such a map (I used horizontal hexes). please help!?
I've been playing around with something similar to make travellable landscape maps for my players.  The key, I think, will be in the "Page Settings" tab for your map page, and specifically the Scale/Grid Cell distance partway down said page.  This can readily be set to have whatever units are convenient for your hex sizes (for my travelling maps I have this set to multiple miles per hex).  You may also need to actually adjust the sizes of the tokens (right-click on the token, then go to Advanced/Set Dimensions) to correspond with the multiple hexes a giant battle robot might occupy.  Long Live Megatron!

Just use modern google satellite maps?

You also might want to look into standalone mapmaking software, since you're actually looking to build a city.  Those should also come with a variety of building templates, including more modern buildings and streets.  Have you looked into the Roll20 Marketplace for city templates of the appropriate era?

I have, that is where I found ( Battle Terrains - Basic Tech & Battle Terrains: Expanded Tech) and they're great for making countrysides not so much city streets.
