I am looking for a D&D 5E Free Campaign on Roll20 and discord. I will need a little help as I have autism but I can hold my own. I love roleplay over combat but can hold my own on both no problem.

I have Played a campaign on D&D Roll20 for 3 years with 1 awesome DM. I prefer roleplay over combat but can hold my own in both. I have been playing D&D for 3 years with the same DM and I love him like a brother the guy is awesome nothing but good things to say about him. but after 3 years I had to leave and its sad ending after playing the same guy for years I grew attached to him its like he was a part of me if Possible I would love to import him over even if I have to start another character sheet I would love to keep his ideals and flaws and background.  Game: D&D 5e  Platform: Discord, Roll20. Day and Time: usually not available Fridays and Saturdays.  Timezone: GMT but I am usually a night owl going to bed around 6am if it helps old campaign used to start 7PM EST  Info: I Played D&D 5e homebrew for 3 years with a great DM. I loved playing Bard and one awesome thing the DM did was scrap required components required for spells so I hope the next DM will do the same thing. they are an un wanted pain in the backside. My DM always used to say he loved how I would do something unpredictable and think on my feet and keep the game moving.  I'm used to landmark levelling up but I am willing to learn XP if needed.  I asked my DM to help me with building my character sheet on roll 20 stats were determined by dice rolls but I am willing to learn the points base system. So who is wolf I hear you ask? (note I am flexible on my back story and its not set in stone but this is what I have been playing)   Evil Wolf: Tiefling - Bard - College of Valor.  After wolf's parents died Wolf was locked up in an orphanage and shared a cell with other orphans and rats and cockroaches. One night they escaped from an orphanage that was thought to be Unescapable but they were not quite lucky and was captured by the queens guards. They were given a choice death by firing squad as punishment for escaping or serve on the front lines for the queen which also meant certain death but at least they had a fighting chance they chose to serve in the army and as Wolf was seen as the ring leader the unit was called the wolf pack. After years of serving on the front lines and 100s of sorties (issuing of troops from a defensive position against the enemy often dropped behind enemy lines)  They decided they had enough and they were nolonger safe and promptly escaped when sent on a 1 way mission.  Things didnt go exactly as according to plan wolf had to risk getting captured so his men could escape.  Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. As for Wolf he was quickly detained. Army officers were amazed to see they had captured wolf and were amazed to see he was only 18 and were fully aware of what he has done he has been a pain in the arse to the army for years they decided to spare him but send him to their camp as a prisoner of war. he escaped to parts unknown and now has a nice home and a Tiefling wife.  Wolf is a Mercenary and Assassin for hire.  Wolf loves his dex based sniper rifle though if these are not available then its not the end of the world but if they are we make a deadly combo.
I cant figure out why nobody is interested I would love some feedback as to why.
Evil Wolf said: I cant figure out why nobody is interested I would love some feedback as to why.  Could be for any number of reasons: Simple numbers game - far more players looking for free games than their are DMs willing to offer free games. Wall of text for your posting - a lot of people aren't going to bother reading that much sadly. You indicate you are really attached to your character - this could make DMs feel like they would need to fudge the rules to make sure your character survived. You indicate "Evil Wolf" - I'm assuming this means evil alignment.  If so, some DM's won't want to play with an evil character as they can cause issues in PC groups. The backstory you provided makes your character seem like a badass.  Depending on the level a potential campaign starts (for example, level 1) this background would be difficult to pull off. Your background sounds more appropriate to a modern setting rather than a traditional D&D campaign.  That would likely cause question as to what kind of campaign you were looking to play. You mentioned your character is a mercenary and assassin for hire - this doesn't exactly sound like an ideal candidate for a group of PCs. You mentioned you would need help as you have autism.  For a DM that has never played with someone who has autism, this likely makes them nervous as they don't know what to expect from you as a player. Best of luck finding a game. -Adam

Starting with Number 2  Wall of text for your posting - a lot of people aren't going to bother reading that much sadly. That is my Bad I wanted to give as much information as possible. You indicate you are really attached to your character - this could make DMs feel like they would need to fudge the rules to make sure your character survived.  its my 1st ever creation and it lasted 3 years I loved the guy but I am more than happy to start fresh with a new one I cant help but love a guy I played for 3 years I would never expect anyone to fudge the rules in any way I would hate that if he died then he died. or I would be willing to create a whole new person it doesn't matter to me.  You indicate "Evil Wolf" - I'm assuming this means evil alignment.  If so, some DM's won't want to play with an evil character as they can cause issues in PC groups. Evil Wolf was my Biker name in real life I have had that nickname for over 10 years and I have always used it Evil by name not by nature or alignment. The backstory you provided makes your character seem like a badass.  Depending on the level a potential campaign starts (for example, level 1) this background would be difficult to pull off. I will answer this as 5,6 & 7  He was a bad arse but his back story lasted 3 years I only included it to indicate what I had been playing the last 3 years I have no objections to creating a whole new character and back story.  the only thing I would hope to keep is his name nothing else.  You mentioned you would need help as you have autism.  For a DM that has never played with someone who has autism, this likely makes them nervous as they don't know what to expect from you as a player. The only thing I would need is someone to help me build my character sheet and add the spells onto it the rest I can hold my own no problem. Best of luck finding a game. -Adam Thank you Adam your insight and feedback has been a great help to me.

Evil Wolf said: I cant figure out why nobody is interested I would love some feedback as to why.  I'll add in some feedback of my own if it helps out. Most of Adam's stuff was good, but here's my unique take on your post. This is coming from someone who is a free GM who occasionally opens up new games to random players on roll20. 1) While autism might scare away some newer/younger GMs, it shouldn't be a dealbreaker, especially if you are upfront about any special needs/requests you have. If it's just a matter of character sheet creation, that shouldn't be an issue at all. The technical aspects of roll20 can be tricky, and after almost 10 years on the site I still get hung up by some things. I've played with people on the spectrum before, and I've never had any issues. Roleplayers are a special breed, and we all have our own quirks. The fact that you are open and upfront about this shows maturity and makes me think you've got a good handle on things. 2) I think your wall of text is fine. Giving lots of information and being authentic is going to help you find the group that is the perfect fit for you, though it may take a lot longer. I'm long winded and will give you a wall of text in this response :) 3) The "Evil Wolf" + tiefling + badass mercenary raises red flags for me when I see this post. I like DMing heroic characters, or broken heroes, and the combination you listed is something I see and normally just skip over. Rereading the character concept, this isn't terrible, but the initial impression I inferred from the post was less than positive. 4) The sniper rifle is also a turnoff for me, personally. You specifically mentioned D&D, so I imagine you are looking for a fantasy campaign as opposed to sci-fi/modern. All DMs have personal tastes and limits, and while I will occasionally allow for blackpowder weapons in my own D&D campaigns, it's not always my favorite thing to do.  5) Adam's comment about the availability of games is spot on, especially if you're looking for a free game. There are just way more players out there than free GMs, which makes it hard to find games sometimes. 6)  Reconsider talking about your preferences with things like component rules and leveling up. Those details aren't unimportant, but with them included in your post, someone might infer that you are being picky. I'm guessing that these aren't going to be deal breakers for you, so I'd suggest just leaving them out.  7) My main suggestion to you is to reconsider how important it is to you that you keep the character you have in mind. Part of the joy of roleplaying is helping to create the story of a certain character, and then getting to fondly remember your adventures with them. Another joy is starting a new character and having that wonderful experience all over again with something different. If you stick with roleplaying you're going to accumulate all kinds of favorite characters over the years, and your tiefling bard sniper is going to be just one of them.  You mentioned you prefer roleplay over combat, and that is a big plus in the eyes of many GMs. I'd encourage you to break out of the comfort zone of the character you have in mind, and be open to playing something new. It is a lot harder(albeit not impossible) for a GM to work a very specific character into their game, but it's not as hard to add in a player who is passionate about roleplaying.  A lot of GMs will take the time to sit down with a player to do things like character background, sheet creation, and a session 0. GMs often have background information on the world/setting they are using, and that can be used to help inspire a character idea. I'd encourage you to be open to a new character, and be willing to work with a GM when making a character for the campaign they're running. Summary: When presenting yourself as looking for a group, you want to make yourself look as attractive as possible to potential groups/GMs. You have positive things to highlight about yourself: 3 years of D&D experience, passionate about roleplaying, flexible schedule that allows you to play with other time zones, and a reference from a GM who enjoyed playing with you because of your creativity and ability to help keep a game moving.  I would eliminate your minor preferences about components and levels.  If it was me, I would remove everything about the character you want to play. Be open to playing something new. If you are dead set on playing the character you posted here then keep it, but know that your stance could possibly hinder/delay you getting into a group. I think it's fine to mention your autism, but be specific about any special considerations you need, which in this case seem very minor. I would add a line that says "Evil Wolf" is your biker name, but you like playing heroic characters/good guys. You might be able to make a connection with someone just based on being bikers, and it will help allay any fears about you wanting to play evil characters. Finally, it takes patience and determination to find a good free group on roll20. When groups do open up, there are always way more applicants than spots, and it can be discouraging trying to find a group. Keep putting yourself out there, and keep applying for games. Eventually something will come along, but it might take some time. I really hope you do find something, because you sound like you would be a cool addition to a group. Good luck!
