[LFP] [D&D5e] Seeking one player for 5e campaign titled "Our Darker Purpose."

Greetings I am currently seeking a player to embark upon a journey that will span not just their home plane, but many others including Faerun and the Domains of Dread. Rules will be broken, the impossible will be made possible, and resolve will be tested in full. I promise you a full length long term campaign that will go from level 5 to level 20, with a full incorporation of your backstory.  What I offer:  A campaign lasting from level 5 to 20 Your backstory to be incorporated in full, being interwoven into the plot An extensive cast of characters with their own virtues, flaws, and stories that will play out alongside your own. Full respect of your time given as a player at the table.  A campaign with an equal mix of combat and roleplay, after all without one, the other loses weight.  What I expect from you: Respect for your fellow players You get what you put in. Imagine you are building a fire, and I'm the flame. I cant do much with wet sticks. If you have a problem, take it up with me. Don't let it fester like a disease.  Resources used:  All 5th Edition material (Excluding Silvery barbs you heathens) (Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft included.) Valda's Spire of Secrets Homebrew Material (Am open to suggestions from players, though I am the final arbiter in what is included in the campaign) The Griffin's Saddlebag Discord for Voice/Roll20 for gameplay What you will find different from other campaigns:  I will be using an experimental use of milestone. The heroes will grow at different rates depending on the story, and at times some might be stronger than others. The paladin stays true to their oath in a time of great turmoil, strengthening their devotion. The occultist encounters an eldritch being, realizing he must go further in his forbidden exploits if he wishes to surpass the threat. The Ranger tracks her favored foe through the woods, furthering their understanding of them and the world around them. In other words, your character's power will develop alongside them as a person.  I am breaking the attunement system. Certain heroes will be able to attune to additional magical items depending on their backstory/character. The holy blade will not count against the paladin's limited reserves, for it is theirs by sacred right. This is so you can have items that you think make sense story wise/you just like the item, without shooting yourself in the foot if I give you a staff of fire.  The party will be split up from time to time, and that is okay. Do you bring your friends to the store with you every day? Do you have them breathing down your neck while you discuss family matters with your brother? This is to allow your character room to grow, either through isolation, or through discovering their own strength. This is also extends to combat, as at times there will be entities that only the party as a whole can combat, but at other times certain foes can only be felled by certain characters. After all, the occultist is best suited to combating the eldritch threat, for it cannot break an already shattered psyche. This is to give you more personal combats, and not leaving you feeling robbed if the rogue darts out of the shadows, dagga dagga daggaring your rival to death in a single turn, or the wizard instantly reducing them to ashes.  How to apply: I need a character concept from you, nothing too complex as I don't expect a full backstory right away, especially considering your entry isn't guaranteed. Just give me a tale you wish for me to help you tell, and if you are picked we can fully develop your backstory together at a later date. Also, tell me about yourself, as this is a journey we shall be partaking on together along with the other players at the table. Speaking of them, I will need you to partake in a group call with them, to see if the lot of you mesh well enough to utterly wreck everything I throw your way. I will also be running a one shot with you, to see how you are at the table itself. Leaving your discord tag here will also be very helpful in general.  Time we will be playing when the campaign begins: 3:15pm MST on Thursdays  I am sincerely excited to partake in this journey with you, and I do hope you will pursue the dreadful truth of... Our Darker Purpose.
Hello! I'm definitely interested in this campaign!  About me: somewhat newish player, located EST. I love playing combat heavy games but I also love growing as a character. Discord is Mairwynn#6466. One note - I'll be out of town the next few weeks and wouldn't be able to play/commit until after April 15th. If that's a dealbreaker I understand!
Hello. I would like to be considered for your game. I have extensive experience with all editions of D&D. I am also well versed in roll20 and discord. The time is perfect for me. I prefer an equal mix of combat, rp, and puzzle or mystery solving. I am definitely 18+++++++++ so nothing is off the table for me. I do have a sense of propriety, so I will not offend anyone (at least not intentionally).  I would like to play a Warforged cleric with a propensity for combat. It was forged as a fighter in a long past war. It was in a squad of 12 and all the others were killed. The war was lost and it was left somewhere without any instructions, so it just stood there, waiting... A female cleric discovered it and it activated. She taught it how to heal and do other clerical things. An orc invasion destroyed the village and killed her. It decided to see the world and off it went adventuring. Its position in the squad was Squad Two #3, so this is what it adopted for a name. Just call me #3 for short. My discord name is Zagoma#6298 and I am free most times for a discord call. Thanks for listening to my extensive bullshit and hoping to hear from you.
Hi there, my names Clint. I'm 29 and my timezones MST. Your game sounds interesting and I'd like to join if you'll have me. I don't have much experience with DnD, only about 5 or 6 months several years ago. I hope that isn't a problem. I was thinking of keeping things simple and playing a halfling fighter who until recently worked as his villages blacksmith. However a sense of adventure that plagued him like an itch left unscratched drove him to leave the forge, pack his things, and strike out in an attempt to quench his wanderlust. discord TheyCallMeC#1337 heres hopin you choose me
Hello my name is Austin and I am a 22 year old recent college graduate that had to move away from his home group I am in EST I have been playing DND 5e for 2 years being a part of 4 campaigns with 1 of which I was the DM for for a character concept I have been wanting to play either an echo knight fighter, vengeance paladin, artificier, or if UA is allowed the blood hunter class. for race warforged, goliath, half orc, draconblood, or variant human all seem interesting. For some backstory  for the warforged    I’m think a magical accident gone wrong and someone losing their mortal shell and having their soul put into a warforged and their soul could act as an echo, or be why they seek vengeance if they suspect foul play, or was a second chance for an artificer to finish their work. For the draconblood I am thinking of an inventor. The Goliath/orc could be similar in backstory with either being cast out of the tribe or for the orc facing racism and seeking to right injustices. And if UA is allowd for the blood hunter I am thinking a monster hunter looking to get his start. Looking forward to talking with you.  discord is Ritty_27#8005
Hello, my name is Colin, I'm 35 and this campaign sounds very much what I am looking for. I've been playing DND since 3.5e, and have several years of experience with Roll20, mostly with 5e. I'm a pretty laid back person, I really enjoy roleplaying, being able to watch my character develop and grow over years. I love the collaborative storytelling aspect of it all, and seeing the development of other characters as well.  The character I'd like to play is a Hexblade Warlock. My character was born in a small secluded village, whose purpose is to house and protect a cursed sword. From a young age he was trained to become one of the few selected to guard the shrine, housing the sword. One must have an iron will, and forsake all things, as the swords evil could not be contained, and it's dark whispers and temptations were able to reach those who guarded it. One day his village was attacked, and while he could forsake material possessions, he still had one weakness. Those of the village he grew up with, his family, he could not let go of his love for them. With temptations of the power needed to save his loved ones, he was lured to unsheath the cursed sword. It kept good on it's word, he slew the invaders easily, but the blade was now bound to his soul. So he was banished, doomed to wander until the sword would eventually finally wrest control of his mind, or until he found some way to reseal the blade. All the while, he could hear it's whispers, tempting him to commit heinous acts. my discord is Kakiro#7396, hope to hear from you!
The story tease sounds good. I'd love to get in on this. I've been wanting to try a new character. A druid from a tribe of shifters. Having been persecuted for just being what they are, the tribe kept a firm rule against ever entertaining their beastial side and made every effort they could to be as human as possible, despite how they'd be treated by any humans they'd come across. After watching an older man from his tribe get knocked down by a rock thrown at his head unprovoked my character shifts just to scare the humans away. Afraid of the retaliation that might bring on the tribe he's forced to leave and forge a path of his own where he abandons the teachings of his family and picks up a sword instead. My discord is AshChyme#0376. Looking forward to writing one hell of a story together.
Hi. My character concept is simple for the moment. He is a paladin of the AD&D style. He is lawful good in outlook and will comport himself in accordance with the guidelines for paladin behavior as laid out in that version of this great game. Once I know more about the campaign setting I will be able to flesh him out quite a bit more. As for me, I've been playing rpg's since the infancy of the hobby's existence. I've experienced about all there is to experience in a game and have been part of almost every type of game. I know what is needed on the players' part to make a game work well and I, for my part, will provide that effort. My Discord tag is Outcast 2-4#8928. Thank you for your consideration.
Hello my Discord is KillDot#2151   I would love to try a homebrew Class by OAP called the Draco Knight a valiant young lad who lost his family to bandits and barely escaped into the woods where he found a baby wyrmling who also seemed alone and together they grow together bonding and surviving to take care of each other while trying to find out why and who sent the bandits to kill his family and what happened to the baby dragons family.  If the class isnt allowed i would do a rogue of pretty much the same backstory except he would have grown up in the streets of a city instead of the woods.  Thursday work perfect for me if i am chosen i shouldnt miss any days.
Hey, don't know if you're still looking for people so I thought I might as well try. I'm Sam, I'm 22 years old and I've been playing dnd for a couple of years now. At the moment I'm currently in college, and I'm working so a dnd campaign would be a great stress reliever. In general, I think at first I'm a bit quiet, but as I get to know people, I start to open up more. I think I can get along with anyone no matter what kind of differences we might have. As for character concept, I got this.  A human, after his family had abandoned him, was taken in by a necromancer to become his apprentice, and took him to live at his tower. This necromancer taught him the ways of necromancy and tasked him with helping him with his research. One day he met a fey in the nearby woods while gathering ingredients. Over the months they would discuss how just as much how death cannot be without life, life also cannot be without death and that they are both equal parts to the same whole. He also found that he had developed a great admiration for the fey and something deeper he had not felt before. Love of a romantic kind. His talks with her gave him a new understanding for life as well as the corpses that his master would use for his experiments. One day, Richter had asked the necromancer where the bodies came from. The necromancer only replied where do you think. That's when it dawned on him that they were the people of the nearby town. That's what they were using this whole time. Upon this realization, he left the tower, packing his things and leaving for the forest where the fey was. After finding her and confessing his love to her, she refused saying that, although she felt the same, they could not be together since she was immortal, and he was just a human. This lead him to making a grave decision. He would figure out the secret to immortality no matter what it was, whether it be lichdom or a fate 100 times worse, he would find a way to be with his beloved. I already do have more, this is just a condensed version of it. If you think I'd be a good pick, go ahead and message me. My discord is SamRoch#9376. Thanks for the consideration!
