Classifying

It would be useful to be able to classify the journal, the soundtracks and the PC/NPC with folders. For example on the soundtracks, it would be great to be able to add a folder names "boss battles" and to put all the musics related to boss battles in it. Same for the journal : all the pieces that are related to a certain objective in the campaign would be classified in the name folder.

The more items I get under Journal & Jukebox & Handouts, the more I need this to run games well. If they could add Folders, or Drag-And-Drop to reorder items in the list, or Line Breaks (Horizontal Rule, just a line that you can drag and drop to make sections), or Playlists (for Jukebox, to collect tracks together that belong together, such as all the tracks you want to play in Room 53)... anything like this to organize sounds and character sheets and handouts into distinctive visible sections. Would be an outstanding upgrade for the usability & accessibility of this site.
100% agreed, well if I'm not the first one to ask for this, it should come soon enough :)

I'm still pro folders too. While tags have a place and useful, for visual tidiness, and quick glance access not so much. also count in you can tag to your hearts content, but if you forget a tag you gave items 3 months ago. its now useless as a quick find tag.. Plus people on computers are folder centric on habits and concepts mentally for the most part. While tags do help for 'search' to narrow down items. To not have folder options also, would be like saying "No no, you don't need folders in windows, just store all your files on the desktop with a related name, and use windows search to find the one you need". Seeing how folders are such second nature in usage to the majority of people, and prevalent concept in the computer world, seems strange such a resistance to add them to roll20 to me.

To be fair to Riley, with something like Sharepoint that is exactly how you'd want to organise files - according to metadata. Tags have many advantages over the folder structure. The issue I encounter in every workplace however is that folders have been around for so long that people "think" in terms of folders. Getting people to switch is tough, so I completely understand why folks would rather have them. I keep wondering if there is a way to group the tags into something that, on the surface, looks like folders. That sounds like it'd be a do-able compromise to me.
Why isn't there a list of keywords in use? That'd solve every problem all at once - - it wouldn't quite be folders, it'd still use all the current functionality of tags, and it'd be easily usable by all. Just maintain a list of keywords, either manually or automatically based on those used/searched for/downloaded/purchased/whatever. Select the tag from the displayed list, and all associated materials pop up with that tag, just as if you'd searched. Major benefit: You'd never accidentally forget what tags you gave that perfect token you saw just the other day and gave a tag that was so awesome you'd never ever forget it... oops! -Phnord Edit: We know this can be done... just type % into the chat window sometime and see what happens!

Phnord, you can also get to it in the journal by clicking the stack of tags icon. Alan: I abhor sharepoint. =D I'd be happy with the tags if they could do 2 things: Make the relationship for specifying multiple tags default to AND instead of OR (when I want an undead mage, I don't want to look through all of the undead and all of the mages). Expose tags to the API.
