We are looking for a player to join in a DnD 5e campaign, The Stars Are Falling ,
set in a high fantasy, pseudo historical version of ancient Greece, roughly pre-Persian Wars. The player characters are chosen champions of one of
the Olympian gods, whose mission is to assist the gods in an ongoing
war against eldritch gods from another world. Our game runs on Mondays, 21:00 pm GMT+2 We
are running a serious, roleplay-heavy campaign with a lot of lore and
some combat, friendly to both veterans and newbies; we are LGBT+
friendly and aiming to be a relaxed group. After
initial approval, you’ll be able to join in a little interview with the
GM, made through Discord, to make sure we’re all compatible and to
discuss your character idea and plans, before we make our final
decision. As a note, sorry this readup is pretty big, I want my players to have agood understanding of what they're getting into. Requirements for applying: Discord + decent microphone for voice chat; enough free time to attend a 4-hour session every week; an appetite for fun and adventure; a love for roleplay-heavy games with characters that can be adapted to blend in well with the world; a tolerance for memes and low humor, (heroic?) nudity, coarse language and impromptu mini ted talks about mythology and history; and a passing familiarity with Greek mythology. Races permitted: This is a lore-heavy game that relies on Greek mythology
and we're trying for immersion. Please
take a moment to look over the list of approved races for the setting.
The homebrew races also have racial feats available. If you want to play a
race other than
the following, and you aren't looking for something outlandish, we can
sit down and discuss what could potentially work best as the closest
possible approximation to your preference, but bear in mind that your choice MUST synergise with the setting. Details will be provided after
recrtuitment. Demigod (Aasimar), Centaur (homebrew),
Dragonborn, Lesser Nymph (Elf, female only), Half-Elf, Human, Minotaur
(homebrew), Satyr (homebrew), Siren (homebrew), Tiefling Sources Allowed: The Player's Handbook & Errata Revised Ranger Xanathar's Guide to Everything Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes Volo’s Guide to Monsters Sword Coast Adventurers' Guide Eberron Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything Provisionally: Mythic Odysseys of Theros (we use a few things from it) Provisionally: Midgard Heroes Handbook Provisionally: certain FF14 Classes (can be found on 5etools) Homebrew
classes and races will not be allowed for this game for balancing and
lore purposes, sorry! Homebrew backgrounds, custom rulings and spells
may be allowed, if they are balanced and fit the setting; contact your
DM to talk about it first, though. Full disclosure: I
don't own any of the books available on Roll20 yet so this is kind of a
low budget production. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I will do all I
can to help with inputing things and sharing. Important: We’re
essentially creating a collaborative ancient Greek epic. Elements of
the allowed sources may be disallowed to preserve the integrity of the
setting and the immersion of all participants. Please respect this
decision. Try to come up with character concepts that fit the setting.
Don’t ask to be a nordic dwarf in an ancient Greek setting who worships
Thor. The point is to play local people who are close to and chosen by
the Greek gods. Some disclaimers: Don’t worry if you don’t know Greek mythology or ancient daily life in detail. This is a game, not an exam. You are free to ask your DM questions OOC or make various checks IC to gain information about various mythological or historical topics. There is no such thing as a stupid question. There is no punishment for asking for information -- unless you’re asking the BBEGs. Then I can’t help you. While this campaign uses consent forms, and the setting has been made more colorful and less rigid than reality, topics like death, slavery, war and its atrocities, crime, sex and nudity are major themes of Greek mythology and history; they’ll come up, through various perspectives. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, please remain civil, request a timeout and sit down and talk with the rest of the group for the best possible resolution. Before the game starts, everyone will be provided with a consent form and a one on one discussion with the GM about personal limits. After every session we’ll be taking a few minutes to debrief and discuss any issues. The views and opinions expressed by characters within the game do not reflect the DM or the players' own beliefs and ethics . Remember that this is fiction. We are here to play a game. There will be conflict and problems and content that might be difficult, but it’s there for your characters to deal with as heroes do, not simply to upset anyone. We are not here to solve real world politics and societal problems. Remember that your group are humans, not mere voices on the other end of Discord. We are not running an explicit 18+ game, but bawdy jokes are part of the Greek culture and some might happen. Nudity is a prevalent theme, again due to the cultural background; you might be naked at times, it’s an inevitability in a setting where people dress in basically bedsheets and have nude statues on display. Please be chill about it, it’s fiction. Sexual themes will get the 'fade to black' treatment and any “creeper” behavior will first get a single warning, then a kick from the game if it continues. Please resist the temptation to re-create hackneyed pop-culture interpretations of Greek mythology for this game. Characters like Percy Jackson, Kratos or Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed will not make the cut. It’s ok to borrow art but we’re aiming for a more nuanced approach. At this time, our party consists of a human(?)Fighter, an elf Monk and an aasimar Sorcerer. APPLICATION: What should we call you: Age: Gender/Pronouns: Experience: Expectations of the game: Rough Character Concept (can be tweaked later) Name: Age: Race: Class: Personality: Brief Background:
