In the city of Waterdeep rests a tavern called the Yawning Portal, named after the gaping pit in its common room. At the bottom of this crumbling shaft is a labyrinthine dungeon shunned by all but the most daring adventurers. Known as Undermountain, this dungeon is the domain of the mad wizard Halaster Blackcloak. Long has the Mad Mage dwelt in these forlorn depths, seeding his lair with monsters, traps, and mysteries—to what end is a constant source of speculation and concern. You received a letter from a certain self-called adventurers-agent by the name of Sir Trehlas of the deep, he talked about how he was impressed by your deeds and would like to sponsor you in an expedition to Undermountain for the sake of adventure and discovery, and of course wealth and power for those who come out from Undermountain make great names for themselves in the world and can shape their surrounding with the status they will gain and control how their lives will continue. he even sent bags of coin saying those are just the beginning of what will be a very ludicrous partnership. in the end of his letter he asked you to join him in Waterdeep, specifically in his country home near the city where he will introduce you to your future companions and give you your first assignment to see if you will be great explorers of the dangerous depths About The Game In case you are unfamiliar with the lore of Undermountain this campaign will be a massive mega dungeon crawl that will explore the entirety of the mad mage's complex home, there will many exotic and weird locations, creatures, treasures and encounters to be had not all of them dangerous but most of them will be, all three pillars of DnD will take play in this module for every level in Undermountain has its own unique identity and feel, but of course combat will have a lot of time in the spotlight as is the nature of the dungeoncrawl so be prepared for that. that does not mean you cannot turn hostile situation to your favor using guile and wits, as long as the other party is willing to negotiate of course. sessions will take from 3 to 4 hours with them usually ending when there is a good spot to stop once we go beyond the 3 hour mark. All experience levels are welcomed, if you are new to either D&D 5e, Roll20, or RPG's in general I will do my best to teach you the ropes and you don't have to worry about not knowing things, we all been there, as long as you have the want to learn I am sure we can get you on your feet by session 1. however do keep in mind that this game starts at 5th level so you will have quite a bit of abilities to keep track off so if you are very new you will need to do a bit more homework then usual. I'm quite knowledgeable in the rules of 5e and can provide smooth sessions without having to flip through the rulebook all the time. Constructive Criticism is always welcomed after sessions, I strive to make the best experience for my players but I will need your help to do so. Jokes and swearing are totally fine however racism, sexism, bigotry, and any other nefarious behaviors towards other players are not allowed at my table, respect all around goes places in keeping the group together and maximizing fun. And finally, this game does have adult themes as Undermountain has many terrible and gruesome acts committed in it so keep that in mind. Character Creation Dungeon of the Mad Mage is a 5-20 level module, so we will be starting at level 5 with a quite a bit of gold to equip your characters properly for the descent into the dungeon. I allow all official Wizard of the Coasts books to be used when making your character as long as it makes sense within the setting, except for the Tasha ability increases changes those are not allowed, Optional features from Tasha and any Unearthed Arcana or homebrew must be approved by me beforehand. We will be using a more buffed standard array for stats generation that goes like this: 16,15,14,12,10,08. Characters will be made during session 0, I recommend you have a base idea in your head if you want but try and not build too much on it as we will be doing that during session 0 so everyone can get to know each other and make the characters together, this way hopefully we can have a smooth session 1 with everyone having talked to each other as players and can now roleplay with their characters About me Hello, my name is Zakaria, but you will probably call me Zak like the rest of my friends. I'm he/him, 21 years old with a strong love for role-playing, collaborative storytelling, and honestly just having a good time in general. I have been running and playing D&D for almost 4 years and i have started being a professional DM last year with 4 games running at the moment and I enjoy it very much. It always makes me happy to hear my players scream when a terrifying enemy approaches them, feel the nervousness in their voice when I ask them if they are sure about their next action and the multitude of questions they ask me, which shows that they are interested in the story and very immersed in it. However, what makes me most happy is when a player says that they really enjoyed the session. Concerning Payment Session 0 is totally free! we will get around and talk character ideas and teach any new players the ropes, after that you will have to pay 7.50$ which is half the amount declared in the post for session 1, and after that payment will be in full for subsequent sessions. Payment is always done before sessions within 72H of the end of the previous one (ex: You will have to pay 7.50 dollars within 72H after session 0). This game will require payment to participate. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. Requirements: Having a good mic is a must as we will be using discord's voice chat to talk in-game so get discord as well if you don't have it, decent internet helps as well, a webcam is not necessary but if you want to use it be my guest.
