Game Discussion post vs Journal entry for game rules?

Hey, just a layout question wondering how other DMs present their character creation and game rules information to players. I currently use thread in the Game Discussions section, listing all the information players need, but have also see people list that info in the journal. What do other DMs do and which do you think grabs players attention more, so they are more likely to read it.

Either one can work, but I prefer to have that sort of thing in-game. That allows me to cross link to other handouts for different categories of info to keep any single handout from growing too long. This is also a good way to go if you are adding content that is either not directly part of the main game system, or is from content that isn't integrated into Roll20. Example index, and a couple character creation related handouts from a Pathfinder game I am running:

I like it in-game so that it can be accessed while logged in, and can link to other handouts as needed.

Either (or neither), I've done both. The suggestion for External Journal editing, would make the in-game (Journals:Handouts) version more accessible out-of-VTT: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1239660/finish-implementing-the-external-journal-feature
I use discord for as much stuff as possible because the game session can get corrupted, stuff can get deleted, and roll20 does not work well in a mobile device nor can you properly search chat logs well in it. Among other major issues. Discord is an amazing tool for a DM if setup properly.

I like Discord for discussing rules and lore, but for the actual record, I prefer handouts. The interlinkability is pretty simple between other handouts, as well as the compendium, and if necessary, the dice and table rollers and other macros. And if you are using Pro, your handouts can be styled into something beautiful: Note that the links in the tiefling entry above will open the Compendium Entry on those sub-races. Oh wow, some great benefits of using the journal. I think I will switch over! I especially like how I can now add a big red arrow point as the journal art, to make it more noticed. Linking between journal entries is a really useful benefit.

Just keep in mind that the formatting part above comes from an API script (Pro feature), all the linking and stuff however, is available to everyone.
