Would be nice to know .......

Just recently, I have noticed a couple of new things  have popped up on the VTT. The little 'lightning bolt' and the 'torch' symbols on the tool bar on the left hand side, and the options 'wall' and  'regular' when you select a shape on the dynamic lighting layer. Is there a place where I can find a list of any new _bells & whistles_ that have been added 'recently', and what they do and how to use them? Also, why can't we be notified of these new things when they are added?
They post a Changelog article every few days in the forums, and the changelog is updated  here There have also been several forum posts, Twitter posts and even pop-ups in roll20 to say "hey this new feature is here" You've obviously just been unlucky enough to not have noticed these things :)
Thank you keithcurtis :). Yes, all I was expressing was the surprise at having 'stumbled across' these two really cool  tools and the desire to know where I could find out if there are more such goodies that I have missed. I didn't realize there was a changelog, and thank you Joshua G for pointing me in it's direction :). DM Eddie mentioned "as well as the email to our official sign in accounts". I have received no such "email to our official sign in accounts" (that I have had since 2015), so I'm not sure if there is a setting that I have missed that would allow me to get them? Perhaps DM Eddie could pop out from under his bridge and let me know :) (Sorry keithcurtis :O :D )

Hi Dave! Under your account settings, there is a preference for email notifications. I normally have my turned off, because I practically live here. Because of that, I don't know what type of info is typically sent: Actually, it occurs to me there must be an additional mailing list, because I still get emails regarding marketplace products and major events. I'll see what I can find out.

So I've done some investigation and asked about. Here is the lowdown on email notifications: There are multiple ways a Roll20 user can receive emails. Notifications from the site itself, transactionals, and marketing emails. You can opt out of the notifications and marketing emails, but not the transactionals, since they tell you whether your subscription has renewed, etc. The launches and events emails (which also have information on new product updates) are part of Roll20's marketing emails - if a user is not receiving them, they likely unsubscribed (Roll20 cannot re-enroll them, but they are working on giving users the ability to micro-manage their email subscription settings (e.g. subscribing to feature announcements, but unsubscribing to marketplace updates). As of 2020, you receive a prompt to subscribe to the mailing list when creating an account.

Also, Roll20 has social media presences on Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitch. There is a Discord associated to the subreddit for Roll20 (neither run by Roll20, but some devs and team members hang out there). The discord has a curated news feed for Roll20, pulled from their twitter feed.

Since Roll20 cannot re-enroll a user in the launches and events emails, this would be another good use for a&nbsp; Dummy Account . Just create a new account, and that account will receive the messages. If you use gmail, you can even do this without a new address. Just sign up the dummy account under "<a href="mailto:regulargmailname+somethingelse@gmail.com" rel="nofollow">regulargmailname+somethingelse@gmail.com</a>". Example: "<a href="mailto:bobsmith+1@gmail.com" rel="nofollow">bobsmith+1@gmail.com</a>". Gmail ignores anything after the plus sign, but most of the rest of the internet treats it as a new address.
