This is a repost the last one was all black for some reason. --------- Our world but in a different timeline where technology advanced at a rate far faster then our own. By the 1700s humanity had technology of the 22th century. With every new invention exploding into even more revolutionary inventions. The rate of technological advancement kept increasing, creating a snowball effect. By 2050 Humanity had reached a golden age of peace and luxury, with all they desire only a tap of a Holo-Screen™ away. Wonders of technology were created, the population surged to 15 billion, and humanity's greatest problems; world hunger, war, disease, and everything in-between were almost trivial. Unfortunately the earth wasn't suited for such a powerful host. With luxury comes extravagance and excess. The planets vital resources began to dry out rapidly during this time, and they weren't full to bursting before this either. Many did not take heed, not sacrificing their perfect existence for even the smallest inconvenience. As the years went by their hubris stopped them from fully realizing the extent of the damage their foolish ways had wrought on the planet. A small few began plans to save the planet, even if it meant sacrificing billions to do so. While others took aim at our neighboring planets where they could start anew. The former calling themselves the Earth Restoration Front, the latter founding a corporation with the sole purpose of creating a new home in the stars for the good people of earth. Years of peace came to an abrupt and violent end, as the ERF silently declared war on the entire human race, supposedly for its own good. Shadow wars erupted all over the planet; CEOs and trillionaires dropping like flies, huge cities devastated by powerful strategically placed remote explosives, plagues of unknown origin wiping through whole states and provinces world wide. It wasn't long before desperation, a long ancient emotion, gripped humanity once more. Countries began clawing at each others throats with seemingly no one to point the finger to, no one to blame for their tragedies but their own neighbors. War violently racked the world, like a cough would rack the wretched body of a man on the verge of death. Weapons of epic destruction let loose their volleys of death on their fellow man with cataclysmic efficiency. The world was reduced to ash and ruins. That's when the machines came... Great lumbering battleships that moved through cities like a knife through butter, leaving a sickly green chemical in its wake. Fighter planes bristling with guns that spewed the same chemical, its plumes floating to earth like green hills of days gone by. The remains of humanity standing awestruck at their power and beauty. Each of these mechanical wonders bore the same letters, a logo burned into their hulls; ERF. The ERF had succeeded in their plans, but at a great cost. Within a few decades of The Cataclysm the earth sprang new life, rivers, forests and wild-life emerged from the rubble of broken cities and grew freely in its streets. Those that survived through hell were rewarded with paradise. But it had brought a new kind of hell with it... A reaction between the Plague and the green miracle fluid had created something the ERF hadn't intended. A tragedy that foiled their painstakingly laid out plans, and caused all the sacrifices they had made had become null. Beings were created by that unholy mixture of death and life; beings so corrupt, savage, and evil, that all hope was soon lost. It was impossible to keep, like a scalding iron in hands of flesh and bone. They infected everything they touched with their twisted likeness, machine, and flesh alike. Plaguebeasts, they called them, with fear and disgust. They soon dominated the world, hindering humanity's progress into its new paradise. After their initial onslaught on humanity the Plaguebeasts slunk back away from civilization, the broken remnants that remained that is, hiding out in ruined cities and in isolated and remote areas of the earth. Their twisted machines lay hidden and dormant, waiting for an unfortunate scavenger to savage, or caravan to destroy. Meanwhile civilization continues despite their misfortune. Clusters of towns and cities built from valuable scavenged materials from ruined cities and factories, some even making their own; though far inferior then their once-great ancestors. Though their survival and very existence are under constant threat. We have returned to the dark ages, where the common cold often proves fatal, opportunistic raiders and bandits prey on the weak and helpless, law and order depend on the strength of your gun-or in most cases-sword arm. Humanity has been reduced to tribal warfare and different factions vying for control over valuable resources and ancient technology. Gone are the days of peace and luxury, and in its place comes a constant struggle for survival. At any cost. Hello! If you read through that entire thing, you are the kind of player I'm looking for! I'm a permanent DM with a few years of experience under the belt, looking for dedicated, RP-Focused Players that want to weave an amazing story of harrowing and dire circumstances, where the odds are stacked against you. Deadly and brutal combat, surviving the harsh elements, protecting you and yours from savage bandits and raiders, and most of all; keeping your sanity! If you're into dystopian and grimdark settings where moral ambiguity is rampant and the lines between evil and good a gray blur then this might be the game for you. Expect a very dark tone (Though sexual subject matter will be implied and not graphic) where keeping your own humanity intact will be a struggle in and of itself. On top of dealing with hunger, thirst, exposure, and sleep. Look forward to deep character development from moral dilemmas and everyday struggles. For a brutal campaign we'll be using a brutal system, Z-Land. A system simple enough that's it easy to pick up and learn and have a campaign where a single powerful shot on your head or torso could send you to the afterlife. But with a system in place that helps you survive just a bit longer. As well as cybernetics and advanced (but rare and expensive) healthcare/healing items that can aid you greatly in your survival. Games will take place on Wednesday evenings at 5:00 PM EST, weekly and biweekly. The sessions will last from 3-5 hours with a break. Campaign will probably last at least 5 months and will most likely continue on. Looking for five players for this campaign. And in the likely event your character meets an untimely death a new one will be created and introduced to the party in a way that makes the most sense. This is a no magic world, but crazy technology and science can get you pretty close. Experienced and new players are welcome but everyone must have a decent quality mic and push to talk. Discord and theatre of the mind (With artwork, though sometimes not entirely accurate!) will be the medium of play. If you're interested add me on disc THEBOSS09480#1621 and and we can get talking! Cheers and good gaming!
