Player Has Been Accepted Obligatory Block Text Format: System: 5E D&D - PHB only (Yes - I'm serious) Setting: Homebrew Schedule: Sundays, 1600 to 2000 hours GMT -5:00     AKA:   Sundays, 4 to 8 pm US Central Time Current Players: 3 Players Needed: 1 Level: 6 Voice: Discord Maps: Roll20 Greetings adventurers!  Thanks for taking a moment out of the day to read. My name is George, though I've come to go by Masha'to, or even just Masha, in most online communities. I've been playing in Dungeons and Dragons off and on during Second Edition in the 90s, picking up 3rd edition at launch through my uncle / first GM, and began running my own games starting in 2002. I have been an RPGA certified GM in the past, and a DM for Adventurer's League when 5th Edition initially launched. I have run dozens of systems over the years in a variety of settings from high fantasy D&D and Pathfinder, to low magic modern d20 system, feudal psuedoJapan in Legend of the Five Rings, and modern sci-fi romps using Stargate SG-1 and many others (Fireborn, GURPS, BESM, Pokemon Tabletop Adventures, Vampire the Masquerade, Demon the Fallen, and Shadowrun to name a few more). I say all of this to say I'm confident in my skills as a storyteller, and that I would like to have someone who is more interested in plot points than experience points.  What are we playing?     Our current game is a Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition campaign that originally started with a few people who had minimal experience with the system and wanted to dive into a story that would take them from next-to-nothing nobodies to saviors of the kingdom. To keep things simple, we elected to begin the story with only PHB material approved, and have kept with that rule so far. Players started at level three and have grown to level six over the last few months and with the current chapter on the verge of closing, the party inches towards level seven with each roll of their dice.      The setting is a homebrew world that I admit has not been fully fleshed out. With each passing session, I find more details to add to my own notes but the world as the players currently encounter it is the city of Fort Rechar, the capital and only city of the Duchy of Priral, the northernmost lands of the Kingdom of Elan. Our players each came to the city as winter settled on the already snow-covered lands to attend a wedding between Lady Gwendolyn, an heir of the major Sleekharbor Trade Consortium, and her groom Ser Arundel, 7th in line to the County of Perault, and renowned knight. It is a cold, difficult land to inhabit, where survival can be difficult outside the city walls as the threat of warring orc tribes, missing local nobles, and rumors of the return of a fallen noble house begin to spread.  Why Do You Need Another Player?     Life happens. At the start of the game, we had one player withdraw before the start of the game for undisclosed reasons, and another was asked to leave as they began to disrupt the flow of the game for others. Unfortunately, due to time zones, a third player had to withdraw from active play as his home and work lives were no longer easily matching up for regular play on a Sunday evening. We recruited two players at that time and have enjoyed both intensely. But again, life happens, and one player has had a major family matter come up that has taken him 1100 miles from home and no time to play for the foreseeable future.     So we need one more person to join our table of confused heroes trying to make sense of a world that seems to present more questions than it has answered so far!    Where Do I Come In?     A great question and I'm so glad you asked!      Our party currently consists of: a half-elf monk who has recently learned he has ties to a centuries gone wizard that once lived in these lands.  a tiefling orator bard with a penchant for comedy gold and a human paladin seeking to reclaim the wealth and power he once had a noble elsewhere     In addition to these three, the party does have allies in the form of two PCs turned NPCs in the area: an aasimar druid who stayed with a small village after a necromancer caused untold years of trouble  and a half-elf wizard currently traveling with the party in hopes of uncovering the truth of both the dead ancestor of the monk, and a family of corrupted nobles put to the sword centuries ago for the bargains with evil forces. What are you asking of me?     Damn! You're just full of great questions!      We need to find someone who has an interest in exploring the world and working together to solve the intertwined web of plots, misdirections, and to discover the truth about the machinations taking place throughout Priral before they lead to something worse. So ask yourself if you can make a commitment to a group for four hours (and on occasion for heavy combat, five to six -- and by on occasion I mean it's happened twice since last July) every week to work together to tell a story about the group.  How do I sign up?     Right here, and it's very straight forward. I want to know about you. Tell me who you are, and not just the generic job application BS. Of course your name, age, and gender/pronouns are going to be a starting point, but who are you? Are you a college student, a soldier, a sailor, a quaker, baker, or candlestick maker? Are you a parent, a business owner, a writer, an athlete, musician, demolitions expert? Bonus points for demolitions expert by the way.      Great, now tell me about your gaming! Are you like me, a long time nerd with decades of gaming under the belt, or are you a gaming newbie just hatching from your psuedo-gamer egg? What systems are you familiar with? What systems have you wanted to try? What do you enjoy about gaming? What reservations do you have about gaming? What's your favorite moment from your own games so far?              What do you feel makes you a great candidate to join our game? Not because you have to earn a spot or gaming with us is a privilege, but because I want to know what you think makes you a great gamer. What do you do that is going to make our already enjoyed hobby improve. There's no right or wrong answer here. Yeah, it's basically the "what's your biggest strength" bullshit we tend to knock when interviewing. Sorry.     And finally -- Do you have a character idea that you'd like to bring to the table? Go ahead and pitch it. And no, having one at this time isn't going to hurt or help. But if you have something you've wanted to play, and want to run it past me, go ahead! Is that all?     Yes, it is! Thanks for getting through it. I'm looking forward to seeing all the interest that might be out there!
hi George thanks for commenting on my other post and I have followed you here! I can work round the timezone difference so if your willing to have me, I would love to join.  I'm female (she, her tbh i dont care), from Ireland. officially I'm 40 but I believe myself to be 24. I'm a nurse but with the specialty I'm in I don't work weekends (this makes the timezone  and dependability issues much easier).  I have wanted to play d+d for sooooooo loooooong but never found people to play with, my friends are all far to sensible for this kind of thing, just had to let it go as I was busy with studying and then working (working shifts as a  nurse does not make you dependable for regularly scheduled events). I find myself now with regular working hours and well to be honest sick of watching other people on YouTube play and so decided to reach out to try and find my way in.  as a complete newbie I will make mistakes and will need need help but I'm eager to learn if people are willing to teach.  I don't have a complete character created as I wasn't sure if I would find a group, but it won't take me long to put some details in and am happy to take on any suggestions so it fits with what you already have going on.
Done and Closed. I'll send you an invite to the game and the Discord server!
SO I'm late as always but having another player has me freaking excited
