So how come theres not many CoC games out there?

Just curious because it seems pretty popular, like right under Pathfinder and DnD. But I hardly see any games in the LFG forum? Is there a specific reason? Was I just misinformed about its popularity?

Popular games are filled sometimes before they get posted in the forums. Some GM's make their game active in the LFG listings and not post in the forums because they get players without the extra effort. Other games get players recruited through other means like other posting sites, g+ communities, and word of mouth through friends.

You gotta remember that Roll20 is primarily played by people who know each other already but can't meet in person. There might be a bunch of private CoC games that you don't know about. If you want to play a game but don't see anyone hosting it, make a post in the LFG forum with what you're looking for and hope that someone sees it.

Vast majority of games being played are not on the LFG today, at least 10,000 to 1. Many of those active campaigns were on the LFG on some day previously for the last 2 years, they formed a group, and are happily playing. One is advised to keep checking LFG daily (or at least a few times per week) to catch individual listings of a certain game in the larger river of games being offered. The openings tend to close in a few days time and then it is disappeared from LFG.
I'm not really looking for a game as I'm already in one, I was just wondering because I don't see much about it, it's a great game but it makes sense that most people are already in a group from early on.

CoC is a unique animal. My experience is you need the right GM and exact right players because horror is hard to pull off unless everyone buys into it. There's also the recruiting problem, "HI, here's a game where you end up helpless, dead, or insane." The fans that like it, like it, but the default is of course, Star Wars, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, Pick a flavor of D&D. I had the similar problem with anything involving Vietnam. "We know the US is gonna lose so why play?"
