When is this game? Let's start with Friday 12:00 CDT (5 pm GMT). This is subject to negotiation. A weekly game of 2-4 hours taking place during a weekday in late morning to early afternoon North America times (early evening GMT) is preferred. But if you'd like to DM and want to propose a new time, by all means do! Seeking 4-5 other players and a Dungeon Master for dungeon-crawling I really enjoy dungeon-crawls where you dive into an old castle filled with monsters, traps, and puzzles. You haul out the loot and carry your dead party members back to town. Then you return to go down to the next level for more. Danger is real and experience is earned. There is lots of combat, but negotiation, cunning, and maneuvering is par for the course. What is Roleplaying? Players seek to make their characters a part of the Dungeon Master's world, rather than trying to force an outside concept into a world where it doesn't quite fit. Roleplaying a character means being part of the world and learning about it. Achieving titles and wealth, land on which to build a stronghold/business/guild, and acquiring followers are your primary objectives. Who is the DM? The Dungeon Master is there to be a fair arbiter of the rules of the game and gets to play many roles. Everyone agrees to abide by the rules in the game and the DM has the final word. Every player feels lucky to be a part of the DM's world, and the DM feels fortunate to have players who feel that way. Players support the DM so that the DM doesn't have to be the only one buying books and game materials. I, for one, will offer a Roll20 Pro sub credit to any DM who at least runs a Session Zero for this group, and am willing to sustain your Pro sub for as long as you continue to DM. These kinds of games seem to be rare nowadays. Some might call them "old-school" or out-of-fashion. I'm hoping to find players and a DM who enjoy it though. If you are a player or DM who is interested in this kind of game, please apply below. I actually run this kind of game myself, and it would be awesome to be a player too. Homebrew We don't need it! The DM decides what books are allowed and shouldn't feel forced to approve anything they are not comfortable with. All we need is the Player's Handbook because we are creative people who know the DM is going to do their best to stock the dungeon with fun and exciting things. Anything on top of that is just gravy. Code of Conduct We will abide by a code of conduct. This is one of those newfangled things which is actually really good for the game. This is subject to change, but here is a starting place based on the one I use in my games. - Use respectful language with other players and the DM. - Abide by the rules of the game and play fairly. - Avoid derogatory language and attitudes. All people of all types are welcome. - Play as a team and abide by team decisions. - Give everyone a chance to speak, and listen when others are talking. - Avoid meta-game thinking, including rules-lawyering, and give the DM the final say as referee of the game. - Avoid player vs. player conflict (PVP) and intra-party romance. Player Application To help our prospective DM out, tell us a bit about what you like. To help the group out, tell us about what kind of characters you most like to play. To help get our DM ready, tell us what kind of support you are willing to offer (non-monetary awards are fine). DM Application To help the players know what to expect, tell us a little bit about your campaign setting like (using a published one is fine too!). To help the players adjust their expectations, tell us a little bit about your house rules (if you have any). To help the players support you, tell us a little bit about what you need to run a successful campaign. My Player Application You already know what I like if you read my post :) My favorite characters are wizards and clerics. I am also rather fond of fighters and rogues because its easy to make a new one if my last character died XD I'll keep up your Roll20 sub. I can also share Roll20 macros I've built or picked up and show you how to use them.
