Make gift of subscription actually give subscription (not just a discount on the recipient's next subscription)

I've recently given a gift of subscription to a GM I liked playing with. Enough for a year of service. However, they didn't notice and I either let the gift I made remain unused or guide them through the process of redeeming the year of sub (even though I wanted it to be anonymous), which is just a hassle. My experience as a gift giver was really poor and I probably won't give sub to anyone ever. Please let us feel good about making a gift, by buying an actual subscription, and not just a "100% discount on their next subscription".
