Background set to white, but is actually gray.

When I first started to create pages, the backgrounds were white, and my first page is still white. Then, when creating another page, the background suddenly turned gray and now all of the pages I create are gray. I thought maybe I accidentally clicked on something.  Both the first (white) page and the other pages all have background set to white.  I've tried reloading, logging in and out, but nothing changes it. I'm a new user and so I searched for this issue, but couldn't find any reference to it.  I'm using the latest version of Chrome, version 104.0.5112.79 and I also tried it in Firefox, but get the same thing. EDIT: BTW I cleared my cache and have Google Docs Offline, Screencastify for Extensions installed.

Hi Jay! That sounds like you may have Grey set (perhaps accidentally or unknowingly) on the Game Default Settings.  This is actually outside the game table, before you press "Launch Game", there go: Game Detail's Page go into SETTINGS > Game Default Settings > Page Defaults Check there to see if you have Grey or White or Transparent? Default is normally white unless you changed it there

I thought for sure that was going to be the answer, too!
Maybe the other pages have Dynamic Lighting enabled.

DL is off, but how about Fog of War?

Is there any other place beside that left menu on the page to check? I really have done very little so far; created a couple of pages and stuck some maps on them (on the Backgrounds & Maps layer).

Once Fog of War is turned on, the default is to have everything concealed. In other words, the whole maps is covered when activated, and you must reveal areas. If Fog of War is on and you haven't changed anything, the map would indeed look dark to you. If FoW is on be default on every page, you can change this behavior on the campaign settings page:

"Reset fog" would change everything back to dark. But "Reveal Areas" should have allowed you to brighten areas selectively. Hm...

I missed the setting in the Page Defaults and then wasn't Revealing Areas correctly. Now, new pages are white; hoorah! Thanks for your assistance, keithcurtis! Related question: So, there is no way to turn off FoW for a given map once it's on, correct? Seems like once turned on, you can only use Reveal Areas.

Absolutely! You can turn it off in the page settings for that page. You just have to scroll down a bit on the first tab:

I know these are fairly basic questions, but I was a tad overwhelmed at first and I was initially trying this all out on my network at work, which was causing issues with anything saving, so I had to keep starting over. I'm rolling now; thanks again!
