Token facing & tiled backgrounds

I just returned to Roll20 after 2 years away, and I'm saddened to see 2 of its biggest drawbacks (both with easy fixes) remain problematic. The first being the ability to set token facing. This would be easy to address. Even a set of token markers would help. Token facing is required for numerous systems that aren't D&D. Moreover, not having a facing mechanic forces GMs to use top-down tokens, which are harder to create. The 2nd is partially a dealbreaker that kept me away the past 2 years--the ability to set tiled textures as repeating backgrounds or an eye dropper function for textures. Without this feature, map making is drudgery.

Since it probably will be a very long time before they implement anything like this (if it ever happens), here are some possible workarounds you (or others) might find helpful. Since you mentioned token markers, note that you can also upload your own sets, such as directional arrows. Token border with directional arrow (for rotation) from rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp (I seem to have a lot of trouble with the image embedding on this forum so hopefully this works?) and a few guides to making easy map textures/tilesets, I agree it would be great to have better built-in tools, but these tricks do streamline it quite a bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLSfc714VV8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-y6CXaWZdYQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4i9L0JxrUHQ
+1 for repeating backgrounds!
I agree 100% on this. Heck, it's part of why I made a suggestion for giving Players the option to flip tokens (allowing them to better represent their character's facing). Honestly, it's amazing how many times stuff like this has been brought up over the years.
The fact these issue remain unaddressed makes me suspect they are intentionally missing. Top-down tokens are harder to make, so users are more likely to buy them from the Roll20 Marketplace. The same goes for maps--if players could easily create textured map backgrounds, they would not buy so many maps.
