I'm looking to take part in a d&d5e one shot with other complete beginners with an experienced DM so i can pick up how to play. I am based in the UK so would need to be an evening or weekend UK time. I am a big fan of critical role having watched every episode so have some idea how the game works. I would really like to take part in a game set in their locale of exandria if possible but I guess that doesnt matter too much for a one shot. I don't have the time to commit to a campaign yet. I am also not ready to go for voice or video until I know the gameplay better. A bit terrified of that to be honest with complete strangers so thought I'd try a text game only first. None of my friends would get together to play. I am also a bit older at 45 to be getting into it. I would think it might be better with only 5 or 6 players if we are all newbies rather than a large cast. I dont mind paying a fee if required.  Are there any games already scheduled along the lines of the above I could join or would someone be willing to set one up in the coming weeks? How does the character work do I create one in roll20 ready to use or does the DM hand them out? I'd prefer to create one to be honest as that's half the fun.  Thanks, Chris. Aberdeen, Scotland.
