Token nameplates are obnoxiously huge and bright

Another cool design decision out of nowhere here - Token nameplates don't go to the back of a layer when using "To back", creating this wall of bright white squares and text blocking nearly all pre-placed tokens as most adventures feature. https://i.imgur.com/myEhLqw.png

Confirmed, adding this to my QOL list for the Devs.

There is also a placement issue. I have the bars overlapping character portraits even if i set to "above"

Other than that, the new Style is OK (I can live with it), though I wish there'd be an option to make those bars transparent while keeping the chosen color!
I think they are garish, intrusive and seem ro take up more space. I'm not seeing the improvement over what we had
Token Nameplates are visible through FoW (SEE Permission enabled) but NOT the token itself (NO LDL / UDL, just standard FoW)

The Token IS visible for me as a GM, correct. Nameplate is also visible for me (naturally) Token Settings: From the GMs perspective: Players perspective: Hover to show information NOT enabled. IF it was enabled, token would still be selectable (as is expected) but nameplate will appear if they hover over the token even by accident. Just HIDE the Nameplate behind FoW as it should be and as it was BEFORE the recent change! keithcurtis said: TheMarkus1204 said: Token Nameplates are visible through FoW (SEE Permission enabled) but NOT the token itself (NO LDL / UDL, just standard FoW) I did some testing on this and my results were that they are visible to the GM, but not players, but also that they are unfortunately visible behind LDL walls.

What I'm getting at is that if the token is controllable by players (as in your screen shot), the intended and historical behavior is that both token and name plate are always visible to the controllers, even behind fog of war. EDIT: This does not appear to be true on the dev server. Which is older code, but probably not as old as the documentation.
This - as said - was NOT the case before the recent update (and I believe this is what you meant with your EDIT Statement ;) ). Before this change EVERYTHING was hidden behind FoW... keithcurtis said: What I'm getting at is that if the token is controllable by players (as in your screen shot), the intended and historical behavior is that both token and name plate are always visible to the controllers, even behind fog of war. Responded on that elsewhere. But yeah. I'm personally of the opinion that the documentation describes what the behavior should be, not what it is (or has recently been). What's your reasoning on how it should act? I can see an argument for token or not token showing on controlled tokens. However, I'm sure that whatever winds up as the behavior will make roughly half the user base unhappy.

(SAME as with Dynamic Lighting if a Token does NOT have "Vision" enabled) If the GM reveals portions of the map where the token was originally placed, it becomes visible as well as the nameplate... EDIT: It does not even matter if the SEE Permission is enabled or not. The nameplate is ALWAYS displayed (ONLY "Controlled by" active) "Controlled By" seems to override EVERYTHING...
