NPC names appearing in the Turn Tracker

Hi I've raised this before and got some good answers - so I've adjusted my game settings for NPC Name in Rolls to Hide and, for the majority of tokens, the name goes away... but not ALL of them. I have an encounter set up with multiple Goblins and Goblin Commoner tokens. All but one of each hides their name in the tracker ... when I look at the tokens that don't, the General setting is set to See and Edit. Odd, I thought, but I can just switch that off and save it - but it doesn't stay changed!  Okay, I thought, more than one way to skin a Displacer Beast... so I copy/pasted one of the other Goblins (whose name didn't show up in the list) - but, lo and behold, the See box was ticked on the new token, and wouldn't un-tick... So I dragged a new Goblin out of the Journal, but the See box was ticked there too! Can anyone help me out here? What am I missing? Thanks!! EDIT: I should have said that this is the Sunless Citadel published game that I bought off the marketplace.

Can you supply both GM and player screenshots of the turn tracker showing the name in the turn tracker? As for the See box being ticked, check your campaign settings. You might have the campaign defaulting to the See box being ticked.

Another possibility to check for: Updating the campaign settings and then applying them in game will affect tokens in play on the VTT, not saved default tokens. This is actually intentional for a variety of reasons.* But it could be that you are pulling out a default token which has not been explicitly set for hidden names in rolls. Try setting one of the problem tokens manually, and re-save it as the default token. * Default tokens are like saved files on a hard drive. You have to "open" them and save changes to change the contents.  Changing settings on the campaign settings page will affect all character sheet options, but only token options for tokens that are actually extant.

Going back into the game, the monster name tag is still showing on the player screen and when I start the Tracker up, the names appear there too. So, I opened the Token Settings for the monster - and looked at the player permissions (the three dots). Sure enough, they were set to Edit and See... so I unchecked them and saved. However, when I go back into the token and recheck, See is checked still (though Edit remained unchecked)! I even tried to uncheck the Nameplate (and saved that - but that also resets itself!  Aargh!

Hi Keith - I have not pulled new tokens from the "library" - these are all tokens on the map already... Hmmmm, just tried setting Represents Character to None, then clicked off the Player Permissions and they stayed off - Tracker also did not show the name. So, the inference is that, because they are set to represent their "parent" in the library, then that is preventing the changes to settings from "sticking"? Anything I can do about that? If I don't have that Represents Character set though, I can't Alt-Double Click to bring up the monster sheet :(

Alright, I'm going to make a prediction now, based on the fact that there have been a rash of similar reports. Are you using the Aura/Tint HealthColors Mod script perchance? It has a "feature" that turns on nameplates. This behavior can be toggled in the script's config. Use the command !AURA if this is the case.

I'll dip into that API's setting - thanks!

Switched that toggle and it works perfectly - thank you for your sage advice!
