Transparency Issue

Hello! First post and glad to be here! I am starting to build a campaign for some friends and while i've dabbled with Roll20 in the past this is the first time im going all in on it so to speak. However i seem to have issues regarding getting the tokens i am using to display properly in the map. I have my maps on the Map layer, I have my tokens, with supposedly transparent backgrounds, saved as .png on the Token layer. Yet when i join the game as both GM and a Player the white/checkered backgrounds display on the maps. I do not have any image editing software. I've tried using Adobe Express and pixlr but could not figure out how to verify transparency with them. Is it something i'm doing wrong in the set up? Is it something wrong with the token images? Any assistance would be amazing!

It's likely your source images... mind posting one in this thread for confirmation? I'd highly recommend image editing software for aspiring GMs, free programs such as GIMP are more than adequate and don't take much learning to get the basics needed for Roll20 use cases.
GIMP was the one i heard of in the past but couldn't think of to try so thank you! With GIMP i was able to verify that the images i was using were not applying transparency to their backgrounds, which i have been able to fix with GIMP!
