Token Values Not Updating

So I'm about to have the first combat of Desert of Desolation using Roll20, and I'm seeing some odd behavior on the map.  I've got tokens for a bunch of enemies (Thune Dervish) on the map in multiple spots.  The first combat would include at least 5 of them, with 15 or so more behind the scenes waiting to come out of hiding and smite the players.  When I opened up the map this morning to check to make sure I was set up correctly, all of the enemies had their hit points set to 10/35, which is wrong; we haven't been in combat yet, so they should be at full.  So I went to the first of the tokens and reset its value to 35...and ALL of the tokens for this enemy were reset to 35.  Which to me is odd. So I was thinking about how I set them up, and when I dropped them on the map originally I only placed one, and then I copied/pasted his loveliness onto the map as many times as I needed.  I thought that maybe that had something to do with what was going on, so I grabbed a new version of Thune Dervish from the Characters section, and checked to see what would happen if I adjusted his hit points.  And all of the hit points on all of the tokens changed. My only thought here is that I have to have individual characters for every token, right?  So if I have 20 Thune Dervishes that I need on the map, then I need to have this entry 20 times under Characters?  I hope that isn't so because it would become very unwieldy to have to have that many characters in the list simply for NPCs. Any thoughts?  Or is this some other bug that I've trampled into?

Hi Scarecrow71! Not a bug, just a procedure. What you want to do is unlink the hit points field on the default token's bar after you have set the values. Then re-save the default. The usual way of doing this is referred to as making a "mook".  Here is the wiki article on  Linking Tokens to Journals Here is a  video  which demonstrates the procedure
Ah, I see.  By linking the hit points value from the character sheet, you are assigning that same value to the tokens, regardless of the number of tokens you have that use that sheet.  But if you unlink it and then enter your own values, that value is used for that token only.  Or something like that, right? Thank you for the swift reply!  That shall help me in future maps!

You've got it exactly. It's a common learning bump, but it allows for different kinds of behavior for different uses. Example: if you manually enter HP but link AC, then your goblin horde can all be tracked individually for health. But if the Dread Dark Lord decides to upgrade his forces to chain mail, then making that change on the character sheet will affect all tokens. Just remember to set the tokens how you want them to behave and then save the default token. Otherwise those changes won't be there on subsequent drops.
