Handout nearly illegible in Dark Mode

Hi all, I was looking to see if I'd missed anything on this?  Was prepping for Sunday's game and opened that handout for a certain emporium and some sections of text are really hard to read.  I also notcied that when setting up links the box contents are actually invisible whilst typing.  The handout looks like this (cropped to avoid spoilers - it actually looks better in this snippet than IRL).  I've disabled add-ons and Stylus with no change.  Turning off dark mode works, though my retinas don't thank me also, every time I log back in I get avatar and name at the bottom despite settings to the contrary and have to change it and then change it back??

Hi, in the future it would be better to post separate issues in separate threads. Makes it easier to troubleshoot without confusion.  Regarding the Audio/Video bug, this is a bug that just happened today, others are reporting it. It is probably related to the new Audio/Video update today. I have let the Devs know.  Regarding Handouts, you may want to change the font size (via "Header") or bold the text. Hopefully in the future the Devs will give more control over the text styles in Handouts etc.
Hi Gauss Fair point, will do.  Glad to hear the Audio/Video bug is being addressed. Handouts - just for clarity to those who may not have BGDIA, the handout isn't mine, it is an original part of the purchased module and thus I am sure there will be others across the various modules I own.  Checking each handout for this error and then editing to change text is too much grief for me, I'll wait for a fix.  I'm using a twin monitor setup this weekend, so will pop pretty much everything out and that takes the handout out of Dark Mode anyway.  The odd handout I can live with, but everything pretty in pink is just too bright, I'm like Riddick without the shades Thanks for the swift reply, take care

Is this a by Roll20 module that is giving you the handout issue? Usually that appears because someone has copied and pasted text from another source. The text editor in Roll20 is HTML-based, and if someone copies from an already styled source, there can be conflicts. Selecting the problem text and hitting the Remove Formatting (eraser) button in the text editing tools can usually sort out most of these issues. Roll20 conversion strives to use only native formatting, so if this is on a purchased module produced by Roll20, it would be good to report the module and handout in a  Help Center Request  so that it can be logged for the next time that module is due for a patch.

Hi Keith It is Baldur's Gate Descent into Avernus.  Snippet of MyMarketplace and this item.  I have edited my current game massively as am following The Alexandrian Remix, but I have also started a completely unaltered version tonight and the handout behaviour in that one is no different, so thankfully no gory locks can be shaken at me on this occasion (Phew!!) Help Center Request submitted

Unless there is an actual bug, which has happened before, it is because you likely changed the color of the text like I do. It makes it easier on the eyes for me. Especially if I use certain colors for certain things. I get migraines, so dark mode is a real blessing...but it does require starting with default text then changing colors. Personally, I wish they would change the black to the default and save us a lot of trouble. SOLUTION: Edit the handout. Either select all and change to text color to default, or go through and change just those blocks of text to a color of choice. Best to pick colors you can read in bright or dark mode. As a suggestion, I use medium light brown for captions to read to players. I use medium-light blue or green for paragraph separation, and I use red for combat situations mentioned in text blocks. Hope that helps!
Hi DnDPlay20 Thanks for your reply, but I haven't changed anything other than turning Dark Mode on - it looks just the same in a brand new untouched game : (

Also...if you copy text from another source, it usually holds that formatting. I always paste to notepad to remove formatting, then copy and paste. Sometimes it means adjusting the lines, but that's the price I pay :)

For better or worse, fortunately / unfortunately,  Another option to "Fix" your Handout is a called "Remove Font Style". It's a little eraser button when you're editing the Handout. After removing font style ---- now the text will be unstyled, which will appear as Black in BrightMode, and White text in DarkMode. The issue is occurring because that Handout has the text set to Black, not to "default". That is really a shame to see that Official WoTC products from Roll20 Marketplace are still showing this problem. Roll20 should hire staff to review all of the Handouts in all of the Marketplace products, and fix them.

Yeah, I can confirm there are some formatting issues there. They are the sorts of things that wouldn't show up before Dark Mode was implemented. The eraser tool will take care of them so you can get back to playing. Patches come in cycles unless they are game breaking, but the  Help Center Requests  will help identify the problems and make a ticket.

Hi all and thank you.  Popping out works and to be fair, when I can run a twin monitor game that is how I prefer to play, with handouts on the non-map screen, so it's not a gamebreaker.  The comments from Gauss and Gold about editing work, changing from black to default is also a swift solution
