LFP - Experienced DM, EVIL player 5e campaign, some experience necessary

Hello applicants, I am looking for 4 players to join a brand new campaign of EVIL characters playing a 5e campaign I have run several highly successful campaigns in the past and I thought it would be fun to run one with evil players A bit about myself, almost five hundred hours playing on Roll20 and 30+ years of D&D experience. I tend to run fairly polished campaigns with lots of prep. Everyone seems to enjoy the sessions. I also have a discord server for communication. The way the campaigns usually work are Every other week for 3-4 hours a session.  Then LOTS of conversation on discord in between.  You must be able to participate between sessions for Role Playing, strategy discussion, and general banter. This has worked VERY well for my other campaigns. The sessions are primarily combat focused and the discord is used for role play, down time, etc It serves as a place to discuss character ideas, battle strategies, keeping notes and information and other important things These would be in CENTRAL US time usually from 7-10pm, so please consider that when applying. I would prefer to find players with experience in at least one campaign in 5e and experience on Roll20 We do not use cameras, voice on discord is mandatory however Please have a good working Mic and internet I have purchased materials for use - players handbook and Xanathars Guide. If you are serious about joining and you would want a class from another book please let me know below If interested or you want more information please see below 1. What 5e campaign modules have you played 2. What character class do you enjoy playing or would like to play and how much experience you have with that class 3. Have you ever played an Evil campaign? 4. What questions would you have? 5. Please explain in a few words a bit about yourself and why you might be a good fit. I ask this not to be judgemental but most of my campaigns last a year or longer and it helps if the party fits together. So information about your play style and characters you like, how much role playing do you add, how well do you know the 5e rules etc. I tend to get a large amount of interest in my campaigns, see my other posts if you want some idea. I am currently running another campaign but it would not interfere with this one

I am getting some questions about how an evil party functions, which is a valid concern, especially if you haven't played one before. Some analogies of evil groups Walking Dead - Negan and the Saviors Star Wars - Galactic Empire- specifically the Sith organization Marvel - Thanos and his gang of thugs The backstory for this campaign will be a prison escape. You have all been in prison together for several years The time you spent locked up bonded you together, essentially forming a gang. We can let the players define their backstories of why they are in prison, the type of crimes they committed etc, but I'm thinking murder, thieves, drug dealers, etc. Some nasty folks, but they realize there is safety in numbers, so there would be some agreement in session zero about being a "team"  X years inside has made you like brothers/sisters etc. I think that will deal with most of the PVP stuff Additionally you will all start with ZERO equipment so there wont be anything to steal from each other etc, every weapon, gold coin, etc will be a big win for the group. There may be some hierarchy but overall cooperation. Hope that helps explain things Just imagine every movie/tv show has the "evil" side, that's you

1. What 5e campaign modules have you played     Lost Mine of Phandelver (player), Descent Into Avernus(GM'd), Curse of Strahd (player), and homebrew games (Both) 2. What character class do you enjoy playing or would like to play and how much experience you have with that class.     I like playing Druids, very versatile class that can help out with everything but isn't the defacto Face of the group. Maybe an oathbreaker paladin or maybe the Lycan Bloodhunter. 3. Have you ever played an Evil campaign?     No 4. What questions would you have?     How difficult is the combat, will there be in session roleplay, the scale of the game. What would our starting level be. My playstyle would be easy-going for the most part. I play to the group if we're on a mission, I normally focus on that but I keep a few personal goals for my characters to help decide how I'll progress and build their personality and base their actions off of. I can write a 3 page backstory or have bullet points. Game-wise, as long as we're doing something that seems to be meaningful or fun I'd call it a good session. I've DM'd several campaigns and one-shots so I'm quite familiar with the rules of 5e.
1. What 5e campaign modules have you played I have played or DM'ed most modules for 5th edition since I buy the books as they are released.  I keep trying to play in Rime of the Frostmaiden for example but the groups always fall apart so I haven't been able to add that one to the list. 2. What character class do you enjoy playing or would like to play and how much experience you have with that class Because I've been playing for so long I usually wait for the other players to pick their characters and then build something to complement the group.  I have no real preference for role.  So I'll say that I have a lot of experience with character building in general.  I enjoy finding an image online and building characters based off the image.  If I had to pick something for this answer I've played a lot of Paladin/Cleric since 5e was first released. 3. Have you ever played an Evil campaign? Yes and I've attempted to run them myself as a DM with mixed results.  Players often devolve into PvP and end up in the chaotic stupid camp which is why I'm guessing you want to rely on an intermission style RP between sessions to build player rapport.  It's a good idea and I hope it works out.  I've played in campaigns where the players weren't explicitly the bad guys but they weren't the good ones either.  Black Company type settings for example. 4. What questions would you have? In your post you didn't mention which day of the week we would be playing but I think, if the time slot is the same, I can make it no matter which day is chosen.  Will the day of the week fluctuate? I know the rules very well.  I've been a DM for a long time, since 5e was released.  I roleplay and act according to the character I'm playing and do voices to match.  My playstyle is flexible and I have a give and take mentality.  If the DM puts in work I will put in work to match.  If you want a 2 page backstory I'll write one, if you want a paragraph that's what you'll get.  I always try to include everyone at the table and I don't hog the spotlight, understanding what my character is good at what and what he's not is part of the roleplay for me.  I'll take note of what others are good at and ask them for help so they can have moments to shine during sessions.  Though in this campaign 'asking' might not be the best word, we'll have to see how the RP between characters goes hehe.  I can be a follower or a leader.  I would love to play in your campaign to recreate some of my favorite dark fantasy novels like the Black Company series I mentioned earlier.  It's a rare opportunity to play an evil campaign so let me know if you have any questions for me.  I believe I match your criteria and requirements.
Looks like this is gaining some traction thanks for the interest. So the day of the week is pretty open, except Tuesdays. I host another game those nights, so maybe Mon or Wed evening? and yes I would squash the PVP up front, although fun for some people it just ends up with one person quitting. So you would be a tight group of gang members, etc. You would have each other's back. Think Dom in Fast and Furious. Break some laws but fairly loyal to each other. Or any heist movie. Oceans X, they were bank robbers but they were a team.
Sounds good to me, let me know if I make the group then :)
1. What 5e campaign modules have you played             I have actually played no campaigns but have DM'd Curse of Strahd and Descent into Avernus.  2. What character class do you enjoy playing or would like to play and how much experience you have with that class               I want to play just about anything. I tend to shy away from most magic based characters though opting to play as someone more physical. I have a bunch of ideas and often spend time looking at character portraits on Pinterest coming up with interesting ideas to match the portrait.  3. Have you ever played an Evil campaign?             No 4. What questions would you have?               How evil is too dark or evil? Are there some mountains that are too evil to cross? If so, what are they? Are there any methods of play, characteristics, or mannerisms that you do not enjoy to have in your games? What character options do you allow and not allow?  5. Please explain in a few words a bit about yourself and why you might be a goo d fit. I ask this not to be judgmental  but most of my campaigns last a year or longer and it helps if the party fits together. So information about your play style and characters you like, how much role playing do you add, how well do you know the 5e rules etc. I tend to get a large amount of interest in my campaigns, see my other posts if you want some idea.             As someone who has actually never played in a campaign ill do what I need too in order to fit well with who else gets to play. I have been wanting to play in a campaign for some time but took a break off Roll20 until things died down in real life. Which they have. The time frame given in the initial post meets the time I have to play perfectly and I can easily communicate on discord. I tried to do this in a game of mine but I don't think it ever took off like I would have liked. I would enjoy role playing a great deal as well as coming up with interesting ideas to over come the situations we get ourselves involved in. I think working through problems that come up and having to be evil while doing this seems interesting. I feel as though I know the 5e rules well. I already have an interesting idea for a character. I hope to hear more soon!
ok I think we have enough to start planning A few more answers from above The party will start at level 1 just outside a prison you broke out of in the frozen tundra of Icewind Dale the party will need to work together to not only avoid recapture but also to simply survive you will start with zero equipment except basic clothes and you will need to beg, borrow, steal to acquire what you need We will have a session zero on discord in the near future to start planning your characters and to meet everyone The combat will not be any more difficult than normal encounters, However the big twist (which I think is the fun part) is that you will be wanted men/women. Probably not widely known at first but as time goes on depending on your actions word will spread. A good analogy, watch the old movie "Young Guns" with emilio estevez, which is a retelling of billy the kid How evil is too evil? that's a good question and hard to define, it depends on the level of comfort of the group.  It is a role playing game but some things can cross the line. best we discuss this at session zero. Think game of thrones and some of those scenes, would that be too much? If you are still interested please send me a private message where I can post the discord link
Ok. We have one open spot for this campaign that has just one session that went really well. If interested send me a message.
1. What 5e campaign modules have you played             I have actually DM Curse of Sthrad and Decent into Avernus. I have played Ghosts of Saltmarsh, Lost mines of Pandelver, Tomb of Annihilation, and plenty of homebrew stuff. 2. What character class do you enjoy playing or would like to play and how much experience you have with that class              I am one of those people who love creating characters so, I have tons of ideas for pretty much every class. I can play a spellcaster, just as well as a martial. I've been playing since ADnD and 3rd edition so plenty of experience there. 3. Have you ever played an Evil campaign?             Yes, a couple one went smooth, the other ended horribly because the players equated being evil to just being asshats to each other. 4. What questions would you have?              I can do different shades of evil, but what would you think about of character that was falsely accused of said crime, imprisoned, and became hard while in prison. Not necessarily evil per se, but learned to do what had to be done to survive, and wants to get out to punish who put him I. Prison on a false claim. 5. Please explain in a few words a bit about yourself and why you might be a good fit. I'm not sure as to say why I would be a good fit since we don't know anything about each other, but I am pretty relaxed, and have plenty experience I can bring to a game. I'm good about asking questions to the dm before going ahead on ideas, and I am generally not a rule lawyer and prefer to roll with the rule of cool even when I am GMing. I have pretty much every source book on roll 20 with the exception of Strixhaven. So I can make as interesting a character as wanted or needed.
1. I haven't played any official modules, but I've got quite a few years of RP experience and story telling along with a year of building classes. 2. I've got an old favorite character who is a mob doctor I really would like to play, though I don't have experience playing a death cleric (flavored as a blood mage). That said, I've got a dozen others I can use depending on what the party needs. 3. Have you ever played an Evil campaign? No, but I've played evil characters plenty. 4. What questions would you have? What's the setting? Any homebrew? Are flavor changes ok, if nothing mechanically changes? 5. Please explain in a few words a bit about yourself and why you might be a good fit. I'm pretty into story telling and I love helping people get the most out of their characters and their builds, have experience with this in other games as well. I'm pretty available to help where I can and have a pretty in depth means to help players or DMs flesh out their characters over a few questions. I'm usually up beat otherwise, got memes for days, and can recommend good folk music and movies. If you've still got spots open add me on discord at Tulvir#6961
