Quests & Rumours

1. Elmar Barthen was saddened by the news from Varis a couple days back that Gundren Rockseeker & Sildar Halwinter were attacked on their way to town, and now the Redbrands are dealt with he encourages the party to find and rescue them, if they still live. He considers Gundren a friend, and was excited by Gundren's talk of discovering the lost mine of the Phandelver’s Pact in the nearby hills.  Barthen also mentions that two more Rockseeker brothers, Nundro and Tharden, are camped somewhere outside town. Barthen hasn’t seen them in a tenday and expects the brothers to return “any day now” to resupply. Update: Sildar's body has been found in Goblin caves. 2. Linene Greywind of Lionshield Coster is offering a reward of 50gp for the return of missing Lionshield Coster trade goods, she thinks the wagon was probably attacked by Goblins. #notallgoblins Update: goods returned. 3. Harbin Wester the Townmaster is looking for someone to head east on the Triboar Trail, where travelers have reported trouble with a band of orcs near Wyvern Tor. He offers 100 gp to any group that can take care of the problem.   Update: Orcs eliminated. 4. Halia Thornton of the Miner's Exchange makes a sign in Thieves' Cant to August, indicating that she wishes to speak with him in private . Update: August joined the Zhentarim as a Fang, and was able to acquire Goggles of Night. 5.  Recently, Sister Garaele ’s superiors asked her to undertake a delicate mission. They wanted her to persuade a banshee named Agatha to answer a question about a spellbook. Garaele sought out Agatha in her lair, but the creature did not appear for her. Garaele desires an intermediary to bring Agatha a suitable gift, a jeweled silver comb, and persuade the creature to tell what she knows about the location of a spellbook belonging to a legendary mage named Bowgentle. Sister Garaele believes that a character who flatters Agatha’s vanity might be able to trade the comb for an answer. She offers the quest to the heroes of Phandalin and offers them three potions of healing as payment for their efforts.   Update: Comb gifted & question asked.

Resting overnight with Reidoth the Druid, he inspects their goblin arrows and tells them these are Cragmaw Goblins, based out of Cragmaw Castle in the southwestern part of Neverwinter Wood. He's happy to provide directions if the party are going Goblin hunting. Update: PCs attacked Cragmaw Castle but were defeated.

The Red Wizard Hamun Kost at Old Owl well has two requests for August: 1. He wants the orcs at Wyvern Tor removed and  2. He wants a question asked of Agatha the Banshee: "What is the name of the wizard who built the tower at Old Owl Well?" Update: Quests completed

Rumour:  Reidoth the Druid knows of a green dragon dwelling in the ruins of Thundertree. Recently dragon cultists arrived to seek an audience with it. Update: The dragon defeated an adventurer attack, killing a rash Barbarian.

Sister Garaele is worried about a friend, the local midwife & apothecary  Adabra Gwynn  and is looking for an escort for a short journey south to Adabra's home atop Umbrage Hill. Update: Adabra rescued from Manticore.

Phandalin Rumours 1 “Once again, the orcs have come down from the mountains to prey on the lowlands! If Neverwinter doesn’t send help soon, the orcs will overrun Phandalin and destroy everything we’ve worked so hard to rebuild.” 2 “As the Triboar Trail runs east, it passes through the ruins of Conyberry, a town sacked by barbarians years ago. There’s a ruined temple south of Conyberry where it’s said the locals hid their gold.” 3 “Strange magic pervades Neverwinter Wood, confounding navigators and obscuring the ancient ruins of bygone kingdoms lost in its depths.” 4 “ Falcon’s Hunting Lodge is the only safe haven in Neverwinter Wood. It lies deep in the forest along a river’s edge, and wealthy nobles venture there to hunt while under Falcon’s protection. Falcon is a retired veteran of many wars, and it’s said he’ll offer free room and board to anyone who brings him a bottle of wine.”  5 “West of Phandalin, on the coast, is an old stone lighthouse . Ships are drawn to this gleaming tower like moths to a flame, and are doomed to crash upon its rocks. Their wrecks must be filled with treasure!” 6 “Some folk claim to have seen a dragon flying through the high clouds. At that distance, it’s hard to gauge the creature’s size, but some say it’s as big as an elephant and has gleaming white scales.”

QUEST Elmar Barthen : “Dazlyn Grayshard and Norbus Ironrune  are Dwarf prospectors who found ancient dwarven ruins in the mountains southwest of here, and have been working an archaeological dig seeking treasure and relics. They need supplies brought to them, and warn them that a white dragon has been seen over the mountains. It's a fifteen mile journey by trail. Take the supply cart and warning to them, then return to town to collect a reward of 50 gp." Update: Mission completed, 60gp awarded.
