Trying to use a spell, but it only keeps posting the Spell description in chat.

Hi, my party has been having an issue that they want to use a spell, but are unable to use it. It asks for the spell level you want to cast and than it posts the spell description in the chat. When I remove the spell from the character sheet en drop the spell again in the character sheet they are able to use the spell again. Happened numerous times during our sessions. Thanks in advance for troubleshooting.

It has happened to one of my players, as well. Same solution, but no indication of how to avoid it in the first place.

Is this the 5e by Roll20 sheet?  If so, have you deleted a duplicate entry from the attacks?  That will turn the spell into a spellcard rather than an attack.  To fix that you go into the spell, switch it from spellcard to attack.
Hi Gauss, Yes we use the 5e roll20 sheet if I'm correct. I do see that sometimes duplicates are in the attack section. Don't know why this happens. Maybe an updated spell or something? Tho I'm not entirely sure that this was the case last time this happened. I would have to ask the player if he erased duplicates before I erased the spell that wasn't working. I didn't erase duplicates at that time.

So much so that in my games I convert every spell that does not use a d20 attack roll to spellcard and I show the damage and saves that way.
