Problem with Character Whispers

In my game I am having a problem as a GM. I try to whisper by typing /w @{selected|character_name} after I have selected a character's token, but the only thing that shows up in the chat is a whisper to me, the GM. I am not in the 'control by' field in any of the sheets, and whispers to the actual names of the players work. but I can't even type "/w JoeBob" (JoeBob being the name of the character and not the player) in the chat without it just being sent to me and not to the player who owns that character. This is the only game that this is doing this in, any ideas or suggestions on what may be causing it?

I would double check the token settings. Make sure it is properly linked to the character sheet.
Two other things to check: 1. Try adding quotes around the name, as multi-part names (names with spaces) can cause issues with whispers: /w "@{selected|character_name}" 2. Make sure that you do not have two characters with the same name (or in the case of a name with a space - two characters that start with the same word). It is possible that you are inadvertently whispering to the other character, which is not controlled by the player. You'll want to check archived characters as well as other 'characters' that you may hav ignored such as handouts or a ' language whisper character ' or possibly anything in the journal with the same name.

The character names do not have spaces, but for some reason putting that in quotation's actually fixed it. Thank you for your help, and like I said I have 5 games running and this is the only one that did it. definitely odd.
