[LFP][5e][FREE] The Sword Coast is Awaiting You, Adventurer! Looking for Players of All Experience Levels, New and Old!

Hello Adventurer! The Sword Coast Adventure Realms (or SCAR for short) are now open for new players, and we are looking for people interested in joining an ever-growing and evolving community, set in the West Marches style of D&D 5th Edition. Who are we? - The SCAR community is a collection of players from all over the world, where our characters live and adventure in an open-world style server that is always moving and changing as the time goes on. Instead of a single, party-based campaign, SCAR is more like an MMO-style online world, with multiple storylines existing all at the same time. Everything is player-generated and driven; from the economy and shops, to world events....everything that happens in SCAR is a result of what  you  the player and your character do in your adventures. Who can you be? - SCAR uses both standard 5e races and classes, as well as selection of homebrew content that is always being tweaked and added to, to give our players even more choices on who they want to play as in our world. We have content from Xanathar's, SCAG, Griffin's, Volo's and multiple other source books that we have all integrated into our world, and are adding new ones all the time! How do you play? - We use Chronica, Discord and Roll20 for our games. - Discord is where all our main chat, roleplaying and out-of-quest activities all take place. We encourage characters to interact with one another outside of actual quests, to give them depth and life as well as further drive their own stories and ambitions beyond simply working a job. We also use full voice chat and streaming on Discord for those currently questing, and for others to watch as they play! - Chronica is a relatively new website (created and owned by two of our very own DMs!) that brings the out-of-game world to life with shops, faction pages, your character's inventory and more! No more imagining it, now you can actually see items and gear your character has, as well as visit all of the shops, churches and locations around the Sword Coast! - On Roll20 where our actual quests are played, we have several Pro-level DMs with premium content from sourcebooks and of our own making, dynamic lighting, background music and more! When do we play? - All the time! There are no set, weekly quests like in a typical campaign. Our team of DMs create and run games as often as they can - sometimes you can find 2 or 3 quests posted in a week! So don't worry about having to make a commitment to the same time slot every week - you sign up and play when you can and are able! - Most of our DMs are in North American timezones, but we  do  try to provide EU friendly times as well. We have recently added 2 new EU-timeszone DMs, who are beginning to make EU quests at least once a week or so. However, majority of games  will take place in afternoon/evening NA times throughout the week. - Even when there are no quests, the server is always active with roleplay, character interaction and the daily bustle of the Sword Coast, so you will never feel left out even if you did miss a quest. Is it free? -  100%, absolutely free to play ! The DMs use paid subscriptions on their accounts for sourcebooks and Roll20, and donations to our server are always welcome and appreciated, but there is  no cost  for you to play in our world! Where do you sign up? - Right here! If you are interested in joining this ever-growing world of ours, simply reply to this forum post! Give us a brief description of you as a player; your experience with D&D 5th Edition, your familiarity with Discord and Roll20, and what you are looking for in a community of players like yourself. - We will try to respond to your post as soon as we can with a Private Message, to further the interview process and get you ready to join our community. (But please be patient, as we all do work and live outside the computer world!)  We look forward to hearing from you!
Hello! I'm Dani, 24 years old from Portugal, and I've been playing a long term DnD 5e campaign with my IRL friends for almost 5 years now! Unfortunately, due to our very busy schedules and the pandemic, our sessions are very sporadic and I've been craving something more frequent. I have experience playing as a cleric (my pc's class in the main campaign) and, to a lesser degree, as a wizard (pc i've used in several one-shots). I love creating intricate backstories and personalities for my characters and seeing how they mesh with other pcs in roleplay. I use Discord frequently but I'm gonna have to dust off my roll20 skills has I haven't used this website since last lockdown. I mostly hope to take part in a cool story with an engaging narrative where my and other people's characters can truly shine!

Quite an interesting concept. Color me intrigued. I am open to playing in the evening and reside in US East. I myself have been playing D&D 5E for many years with a history of starting from 3.5e. I enjoy creating stories for the characters I invent. Stories of all genres are what interest me. The people met along the way are just as great. I have done everything from streams, PBP, voice only, and more. I have also had a fair experience with DMing as well. I am very familiar with Discord and Roll20. I hope to communicate further through PMs - can drop my Discord there for further conversation.
Hey Auren,  Thanks for the post and sounds interesting, Definitely looking to get back into adventuring as been out of the game for awhile. I'll actually do a general LFG post shortly too as would love to return to Faerún and especially the sword coasts The trick as always is finding the group / style that gels with you and works. tried doing a few meets here in the UK but hard to jump into established tables and i think playing more from home and on D20 or discord would be ideal. Work is always the killer but have most evening and weekends somewhat free and love to get immersed in a good story, not a spot light hunter as hannibal smiths says "i love it when a plan comes together"  Personally i'm still a n00b when it comes to roll20 and rusty in 5e but im sure i'll pick it up fast. Chronica seems interesting will keep an eye on it and SCAR too which sounds like a nice collective. Look forward to hearing from you. Cero
Hi. I've only been playing 5e for about 2.5 years, but I've been roleplaying for a long, long time and have played most of the previous versions as well as other rulesets. I've been using Roll20 for as long as I've been in 5e, yet I keep discovering that there are features to which I haven't been exposed. I've used discord for all types of gaming and social interactions for almost as long as it's been around. My playstyle tends to blend with the group as I've played from very serious campaigns to the tongue-in-cheek, whimsical ones, heavy RP to light, combat oriented, investigative oriented, the gamut. I'm currently in a campaign that meets every other week and I've decided that just isn't enough for me. I want MOAR D&D! :P I like to tailor my character builds to the concept I have for them when they first pop out of my head. This usually mean a lot of multi-classing for the features that fit the concept, though often just the mechanics worked into my narrative rather than the fluff intended for the class. That said, I'm not sure what concepts would work in the Sword Coast as I have very little experience in Faerun (other than the classic video games!). However, what little Faerun experience I have has been in 5e in the last couple of years.

Hello, I am interested in playing and have a pretty flexible schedule to do so.  I am willing to run any class to round off any party so that’s no problem for me to fit into any existing game.  I am not very familiar with roll20 or discord.  I have been playing DnD since 1979 as a DM and Player.  I’m pretty familiar with 5e and use forgotten realms always when I DM.

I am intrested in playing. my name is Kurt, i am 21, from ireland. I have been playing for 3 years or so but mainly as a DM, I have a very flexable schedule. just looking to play a game of D&D as a player for once.  Skeleton pirate, Bubba#0329 is my discord feel free is pm me. I am mostly  familiar with Roll 20. as i have mostly been a dm i would think i would need to be at leeast a little bit  familiar with roll20 to do so. I am very familiar with discord. I have not had enough experience as a player to form a discription of myself without lying, hope you can understand.
Hey there. I go by Sakuya or Shen online. I'm 32 and have been playing/DM'ing 5e for years now. I love a bit or a lot of everything. Combat, adventure, mystery, role-playing, drama, all of it! <3 I have a lot of experience with both 5e (though the actual lore and such not so much) and Discord. I think what I'd love to see most are interesting characters and players who care about them/ are really involved.
Hi! This sounds really cool - the lack of a set schedule is really appealing, as life outside of the game can sometimes pull me away. I've been playing over the past 5 years (Pathfinder 1 and DnD 5e), almost always on Roll20 with Discord for audio/video, at times a player and others a DM. As a player, I love playing more of a support role, helping others get the most out of the characters and strategies. As a DM, I love pulling character backgrounds into adventure drama. In terms of joining the community, I'd love the chance to spend more time exploring roleplaying outside of combat, as well as experience other DM styles and approaches. -JV

Hi, I'm Olytash. This sounds like a very cool community and like other people have said I like the episodic nature of the games. I'm a very new player: I've only been playing ttrpgs for about a year, but I'm hooked! I enjoy the character making process and using the system to tell stories about how the characters are changing. I don't have any experience with 5e, but I'm familiar with the jargon and general flow of the game. I'm very familiar with discord for chat and voice and I've used Roll20 a bit. Some other ttrpg experience I have: I've  been playing Pathfinder 1e for almost a year and I've gm'd a handful of Blades in the Dark sessions. The current campaign I'm playing of Pathfinder is coming to an end soon and it's caused me to reflect on what I enjoyed and what could be improved. I enjoyed playing with Pathfinder but the group I'm playing with is not very into roleplay or individual story arcs.  Even if things were perfect I don't think this is the ideal group for me (that's fine, we all play the game differently). I realized I'm looking for something that is in the introduction to a podcast I listen to: Friends and the Table. The GM says it's a podcast that focuses on critical world building, smart characterization, and fun interaction between good friends. I hope in joining this community I'll make good friends, but the first two - critical world building and smart characterization - are the things I really want from a TTRP.  I used to write short stories and do improv with friends and that has been missing as a creative outlet for me for a while due to work and school and general busy life. So, I'm looking for a community that is supportive of storytelling and world building in a way that's fun, can be challenging, and is encouraging for everyone to participate.
