Hello everyone, I’m Akuma and I’ll be DMing a number of sessions I’m dubbing the Legacy Games. Below I describe what I'm doing in some detail, but you can also check my lfp page here: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/16591/a-tale-of... What’s a Legacy Game? Simply put a Legacy game is a series of sessions set in the same location but with different players each session. Each game has it’s own goals which the players can choose to follow- or do something completely different. Regardless of their actions they create a history which other parties can run into. For example one party might discover an ancient tomb, raiding it for all it’s worth. A second party entering this tomb would find it ransacked, maybe only finding what secrets the first party did not find. However if the first party had died in the tomb, then the second might find their bodies… or their transformed remains. The goal of this is to create an interesting and interactive setting that grows and withers on numerous players actions. Can I join more than one game? You can, though normally I will prioritise players who haven't had a chance to play yet. However if an old player does join in they can bring their old character back with them, assuming their still amongst the living. What sort of game types will these sessions be? The Legacy series gives me an opportunity to rapidly change the focus and genre of each session. One game could be about exploring this strange land, another could be focused on ridding the land of some monster tribe, while another could be about trying to settle in the land. Each session will be designed to run for roughly four hours each, making them quick adventures that go straight to the point. Of course some returning players or even new ones might have an idea of what they want to do in this new land, which could be made the focus of a new session. Will we be able to read up on past adventurers? There will be two histories that follow the Legacy series, the known history which is written by those who survive their adventures and the true history. The true history will be written by me as a DM assistant and is not normally viewable by players. However when the first legacy series ends it will be made available to everyone so they can see what the big picture was. What will you leave behind? As you play through a game in the Legacy series it’s sometimes a good idea to keep in mind that others will also be following in your footsteps. What will you leave behind for others? An empty treasure room? A mystery? A clue? Or a dire warning? ------------------ A Tale of Explorers To the south west of the anarchic state of Kaer Maga lies the Yondabari river, serving as it’s main connection to the rest of Varisia. But much of the land beyond this river is unexplored and left to be claimed by the wilds, whether due to the difficulty to reach it or the sheer dangers that lie in wait. Recently however a trader managed to pass through one of these lands bringing with him tales of rich resources, strange tribes and ancient wonders. Since then a number of explorers have set out to this land to determine the truth of these rumours and to see what riches they might earn for themselves. How do I join the Expedition? To join all you need to do is write up a short background and personality for your character, along with a sheet. The game will have plenty of rp and combat elements. The party will be level 3 with 3000 spending gold for equipment. We’ll be using 20 point buy for ability scores and you are allowed one trait. Most normal races and classes are allowed, except gunslingers, summoners and psionics (They make balancing the game very difficult). The First Explorers As an enterprising group of skilled adventurers your group appears to have the distinction of being the first explorers to reach this land. This distinction comes with great benefits but also the most danger. However if your group is able to explore enough of this land then you’ll be able to name it. That is assuming you’ll leave it alive. A Timed Expedition Hitching a ride with a group of nomads proved to be the quickest and safest means of reaching this unknown land, but the nomads will only be staying on it’s edge for a limited amount of time. If the party does not return to the nomads before they leave they will find themselves stranded in this strange and hostile land, making it very difficult to return to civilization and cash in their rewards. The session will last around four hours, meaning the party has to weigh up their time against the possible rewards. At the sessions end if the players have not returned to the nomads then the characters are stranded, increasing the chances they never make it back alive.
