In our world his sacrifice didnt buy enough time and his appointed succesor Hiruzen Sarutobi was slain defending his commrades from the pursuing Kinkau force as well. Danzo Himura Becomes the 4th Hokage, still recognizing his fallen comrade hiruzen as the 3rd. Danzo respected the dying wish of his team mate and did not seek retribution for the actions of the rogue Cloud ninja. The first war ended.
