LF Shadowrun 4th ed group

I've got the core book, but I've never actually had a chance to play due to my local group being pretty much d20 exclusive. Anyone running a game that doesn't mind teaching a new player? I want to at least get some experience with it before I try to pitch a game to my local group. Thanks!
I'd love to play a game on R20 as well, if any GM would be up for hosting it.
I'll play if you're looking for people :D
If we can't find an experienced DM and have 3 or 4 PCs, I'd be willing to attempt to run the sample adventure that comes with the quickstart. Mind you, this will be my very first time actually using the system so flaws would be bound to happen. Also, My timezone is EST (GMT -5).
Don't worry about it, i'm a newish GM for Dark Heresy, so problems, flaws, and accidents are bound to happen(First game, accidentally had people roll 2d10s and had them work on percentile with them instead of adding them, which gave everyone high scores >_<)
I'm an experienced SR 4E GM and player. I'd really like to play for once, seeing as I've mostly been GMing. I just had to end a campaign in real life because one of the remaining players (Who killed half the team) says he's up to go, then last minute says he can't make it. Went on for a month, couldn't take it so I ended my year and a half long campaign. I can help with rules and the like if you are still up for setting a game up, Matt. My timezone is PST (GMT -8 I believe.)
I'd be willing to run a game, but I'd like to get one or two additional players though. I probably will start off with the encounter in the quick-start rules for simplicity's sake and then maybe run a few missions. I'd also like to be able to be a player as well so I can try to learn both sides of the fence for when I try to pitch the idea to my local group. Perhaps after I run this, would you be willing to run something short as well?
Also, for those interested, here's a link to the free quick-start rules: <a href="http://www.shadowrun4.com/wp-content/uploads/Downloads/Shadowrun%20Quick-Start%20Rules.pdf" rel="nofollow">http://www.shadowrun4.com/wp-content/uploads/Downloads/Shadowrun%20Quick-Start%20Rules.pdf</a>
Awesome, thanks.
If you need an additional player I'd be willing to give it a shot
I'd also like to be able to be a player as well so I can try to learn both sides of the fence for when I try to pitch the idea to my local group. Perhaps after I run this, would you be willing to run something short as well? I was thinking about eventually GMing some SR on Roll20, but was hoping to get a little playing in before starting up another campaign, we'll see.
I would definitely be down for playing or GMing if necessary
I'd love to play if you're still looking for players, never played Shadowrun, but always heard good things! Would be interesting.
I think I'm going to draw the line here for players since we have 5. How much experience do you guys have with Shadowrun 4e?
Does None count?
I have played 4e for about 3 years. I will gladly play, but I was almost always GM so i hae no problem with GMing
I've read the getting started pdf, thats about it.
DrPersons: Seeings how we have like 4 people (including myself) that have never played before, do you think it would be better for an experienced DM to run a short campaign so us new players can learn the ropes first? I have no problems with running a game, and probably nonetheless will, but from what I've seen and heard, trying to run a game with no prior experience in it rarely goes well.
I would definitely be down for playing or GMing if necessary oh u I'd be down to play a game if you GMed it Anthony.
Indeed Clayton haha. But yeah I would definitely be down for GMing. Just send me a pm with what kind of character you plan on making. Characters will be first come, first serve.
I've actually never made a character before. I know it's a point buy system but I'm not too sure where to go.
Ok. Basically, you start out with 400 BP. In the book, follow the Character creation guidelines thoroughly, start with a metatype, Dwarf, Ork, Troll, Elf, or a human, all with a corresponding cost and beginning attributes. The 7 things to do when making a character are Choosing a race, Buying attributes (200 BP max), Qualities 35 max for both negative and positive) Skills, contacts and finally gear (50 BP max, 1 bp = 5k Nuyen). And then theres spells/adept powers/complex forms that you can only get if you buy one of the related qualities, Magic, Resonance and Edge, Both magic and resonance can be raised past the 200 BP Attribute limit, Edge as well, but edge doesn't require a quality to start out with one. Look at the character creation rules long and hard, and then glance over the premades in the book. That'll help you get a feel for what you want. Side note: Cyberware and Bioware augmentations fall under the gear category, and it's usually advised that anyone that doesn't risk losing resonance and magic take some, for that extra edge. Also, negative qualities are a great way of making awesome memorable characters. Don't take the uncommon allergy to a plant that can't be found indigenous any where but the amazon at the highest rating, or sensitive system as a Magic character. Where's the fun in that? Hope this helps.
I'm a GMT player looking for Shadowrun group if one is forming.
You are more than welcome to join Howard. Just PM me with your preferred character type.
Hey there folks. I see previously that you've maxed out on players, but I thought I'd put my name in the hat as a backup or in case a second game starts up. I've played Shadowrun since 2nd ed and would love to pick it up again sometime. Happy gaming!
I'll join.
If our DM is fine with it, I'm cool with more people. I just don't want it to get too big/out of control (I was in a 12 person D&D3.5 campaign, never again lol).
Sure anyone that wishes to play just PM me.
We will probably start gaming some time next weekend
Any day that's not sunday is fine with me
Cool. Thanks. Can I get a bit of a roll-call on archetypes? No point in reinventing the wheel...
Hacker, infiltrator, so far
Hey guysss, I'm a friend of Clayton's and he told me aboot this lil' game of shadowrun you guys are hosting. I've never played before but I've done paper and pen rpg's before and I'm gonna take a look over the shadowrun.pdf's that Clayton sent me.
You are more than welcome to join
Ok. I can whip up a versatile heavy/infiltrator type. He'll be a combo of bio/cyber. With some serious combat + a number of support skills. Any ideas on time slot as yet?
We will be arranging a meet up time to discuss gaming times and to meet eachother and discuss the game as well. This will take place during next week.
Sounds good to me. Thanks.
How many people are in on this? I haven't played SR4 in a while, but I wouldn't mind getting back in.
It looks like there are a fair number of interested players here. Having read through all the posts, it seems to me there were two individuals who expressed interest in running a game... I would like to propose something a little avant garde and radical: I propose that we move forward with two GMs, who both get to make characters. Those and all the players who wish to make characters would all populate a single Shadowrun universe. The players would be split between the two GMs based (at least primarily) on availability, followed by group versatility. I *think* that even with the two GMs playing we'll have 4ish players in each group. However, given the nature of Shadowrun, there is no need to maintain group integrity between adventures (though obviously it must be maintain while a run is still going on, assuming it goes more than one session). This means that the GMs could put out real life calls for games on specific days and have the characters respond on a first come first serve basis mixed in with "whose available that day", in order to get teams together for a run. Anyway, hope that all made sense. Worth at least putting some thought toward, I reckon.
ok, we will be meeting and discussing the times and what not on roll20 on this upcoming Tuesday, July 3rd at 6pm PST.
9pm EST sounds alright to me. Hopefully it won't run passed midnight EST.
Ah. PST. Now that's my kind of time zone!
Darcy, your idea seems very awesome. I think I'd be really cool if it was implemented in some way once this all gets a little more organized.
Matt I said PST not EST
Notice that Matt said 9 pm PST. That's the same as 6 pm EST.
You go that backwards, but good try nonetheless. ;)
Timezones: The only reminder you have online that someone you're talking to is on the other side of the continent.
Well... to be fair, Seattle is in PST, so as Shadowrunners that is the timezone we should be referring to. :)
Is it too late for me to get in on this?
I would be interested - first time player for SR
Hey. Were we meeting today to discuss this game?
