[LFGM] Looking for a Paid GM [will pay $100/game] [D&D 1e clone]

Hey there, we are looking for a great GM to help us test a set of 1e AD&D rules (OSR cloned). Will share link in DM. We have 2 players plus a few that show up on occasion, so we will also need to find 2-3 more players. Roll20 Info. We use the new 1e AD&D sheet and a ton of ScriptCards automation. So most of the complex stuff is automated. There is also a library of scripts for common GM tasks. We can get you a server set up (so no Pro account required if using ours) or you can use your own and grab updates from github. Will share a test server link in DM. If using your server, we can help load the monster sheets. Testing Criteria. We’re not looking to produce any testing material or create specific test cases. Given the ruleset, the intent was to produce a playable game reducing rule vagueness and toning lethality down by a notch (ie. “some”). We do want to see how the rules operate outside of our group who helped design them. We are very interested in feedback of course and all rule change requests will be considered. In any case, the GM always makes the “table call” no matter what is written. Campaign. Does not need to be custom (ie can use pre-made adventures). Does not need to be a 1e adventure (but should be converted). Greyhawk is great, but not required. Basically, anything the GM knows will be fun for the players. We’ve previously done Slavers, TOEE, and Giant series (in progress still) so perhaps not those. I find low levels work best if new to the rules. I'm happy to help shoulder some of the work load where it makes sense. GM Requirements. Being able to conduct a fun game, familiarity with Roll20, and computers in general is more important than a deep understanding of 1e. The rules are fully online and in most cases streamlined. Our players have all been 3e/3.5e/Pathfinder players as well as some 5e. There is a learning curve, but if you are familiar with D&D, that’s a great start. In terms of age, there’s not really a hard requirement, but consistency and our ability to rely on this is important. So some professional (work) background is preferred. Frequency/Timing. We have some flexibility but Tues or Thurs evenings with a 6:30pm CST start time would work best. Can be flexible on day of week if other players are joining. Start time is also flexible — expectation is a game around ~4-ish hours (a little less or more based on all the normal factors). Frequency would be once per week (with the occasional skipped week of course). Start date would depend on player availability. Total number of games is open ended if everyone is having fun. Rules have been tested previously by 12 players over two groups and multiple campaigns with 2 GMs (begun ~2018; rules in dev since 2016-ish). We run a separate game Saturdays with 5-7 players (just got to the Giant series after TOEE; open to adding a player!). Hopefully you can help us out. I’m happy to answer questions or do some screen sharing to give you a better idea of the game. If you’re reading this and would rather be a player (or want to learn more), please DM me! Responses. Just send me a DM with some info including thoughts/comments on the above categories. Any additional info is great. Let me know your ability to bring in extra players. Add any initial questions. Payments. Flexible in terms of payment vehicles. Open to pre-pay once we establish things. Happy to discuss more. Assuming there is some interest, once we have someone chosen, I’ll communicate to all and will provide an update after 4 games. Given the holidays, I may !bump this thread once we get into the new year. Cheers! ~D ...I did consider StartPlaying, but the few folks I reached out to there were not available. So I figured I would try here before going in blind there with a custom game request.
DM sent.
Thanks @Vanyal and to the others who kindly responded! I've replied to all via PM. Still open to any interested until we make a selection. Cheers.
Had lots of good discussions so far, but wanted to bump this coming out of the holiday. A couple of clarifications based on questions I've received. 1. While we do want to test the rules, we are also looking to participate in a real campaign. 2. While there is work involved when learning new rules, I'm taking a bunch of work off the table given that: a.) Most of the rules are automated into the existing scripts (including initiative and turn tracking, attacks/mods/damage, many abilities/spells/checks, etc.). and b.) I will do all of the monster/creature conversions for you. So, there is still "work" but not at all what you might expect just reading this. 3. We are very open to using existing adventures (non-1e) already online and ready to go. 4. In terms of experience, 3e/Pathfinder/5e all seem translate very well. Obviously, 2e is super close (and 1e is spot on). But, as I stated previously, Great GM first - rules guru lesser priority. Hopefully, that helps when considering this opportunity! I'll make a decision late this week. Thanks ~D
Hi; &nbsp; &nbsp; I started with the blue book and the white box in the 70's.&nbsp; I played 1st Edition AD&amp;D starting in 79, and then gravitated to 2nd Edition AD&amp;D in the mid 80's.&nbsp; &nbsp; From there to 3.0 in 2000, and 3.5 in 2005.&nbsp; &nbsp;2000 to 2008 was Living Greyhawk with the WOTC "living campaign."&nbsp; Our area was Dyvers, and so from running the games for eight years, and reading everything I could get my hands on about Greyhawk, I'm very familiar with it, and with Dyvers in particular.&nbsp; In 2008 it was Pathfinder and Pathfinder Society till about 2013.&nbsp; I continued playing Pathfinder (but not Society) till about 2016, when a friend got me to try 5E.&nbsp; From then till now I've run Dyvers mods that I wrote and there is another adventure my friend wrote, and then I adapted a couple of old Living Greyhawk mods for the Game Days and Conventions I've been to.&nbsp; &nbsp; From then till now, I've DM'd about 90% of the time.&nbsp; I love DM'ing to a point, as long as the game and players are fun,&nbsp; and a good fit both ways, with me and with you.&nbsp; &nbsp;I like online because I can set the lighting parameters so each character playing on a separate computer can only see what they can see.&nbsp; &nbsp;I have a Pro account, and have been running games on Roll 20 for quite some time.&nbsp; &nbsp;I have to tell you, though, it's been a VERY long time since I've played 1E AD&amp;D.&nbsp; I used to know the rules very, very well, and I still have a great memory, so it might be a learning curve for me getting back to the rules, but it shouldn't be too hard.&nbsp; &nbsp;I have several campaigns and one shots I can run and have run, and a one shot would give us a good idea whether or not we'd be a good fit with each other.&nbsp; We would also most likely need a few extra players, but I belong to a TSR gaming group on Facebook, and might be able to swing a few more players who are most likely old farts that have been playing AD&amp;D 1E. For ever.&nbsp; About me:&nbsp; In addition to being a DM now in my 6th decade (but more like 40ish years), I also do "voices" and can do "caricatures" of the monsters and NPC's.&nbsp; My background is studying history in college and doing drama and acting in high school, college, and beyond.&nbsp; I also do my own maps mostly&nbsp; <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/arillion1/arillions-cc3%2B-maps/" rel="nofollow">https://www.pinterest.com/arillion1/arillions-cc3%2B-maps/</a> &nbsp; Some of these are older and some newer.&nbsp; &nbsp;I also have a lot of the old Living Greyhawk mods that could be adapted, and quite a few of the old TSR adventures, and settings as well. I also am very good with using Roll 20 and Discord, and I'm free just about anytime to run.&nbsp; If you're interested, send me a line, and we can talk about what to do.&nbsp;&nbsp; Robert
Hey Robert! Thanks for the response. I'll reach out in PM. We have selected a GM for now and as I mention above, we are committed for 4 games before we take a checkpoint. Cheers ~Dave
