world has ended, and it’s ending again. Three hundred years ago, the Cataclysm
brought ruin to the world of Krynn. In a single day, an age of wonders came to
an end. Countless innocents died, the face of the world was reshaped, and the
gods themselves faded into legend. Through ages of struggle, the peoples of
Krynn survived, but the world isn’t what it was. Those nations that remain
linger in the shadows of their ancestors’ wonders. Only slowly have they begun to
push back centuries of darkness and rediscover how the world has changed. Then
came the Dragon Armies, legions of soldiers devoted to the wicked god Takhisis
the Dragon Queen, and the world faces ruin once more. The War of the Lance has
begun, and in a conflict between gods and dragons, a wounded world hangs in the
balance. Character generation
guidelines: 1) Please read Chapter 1 “Character Creation”
in the setting sourcebook to familiarize yourselves with some new options.
There are some cool ones. You may also read the introduction, “War Comes to
Krynn” if you like to help you with flavor 2) . Level 2 characters, any WOTC class.
Races will be limited. Stongly encouraged: Human, human variant, hill dwarf
mountain dwarf, high elf, wood elf, kinder, and gnome. These are encouraged
because you will find a richer experiencing being able to stem into the most
popular cultures in Krynn. The other races available in DDB character
generation may be allowed with a good story but you are unlikely to run into
any of your kind during gameplay and you will be treated as the unique rarity
you are. 3) Point buy, milestone, starting equipment.
Character connections prior to start are A-Ok. GM Style: * Rules have their place, but they are not
the be all and end all of the game: there is room for flexibility that allows
for the “rule of cool.” * “Rule of cool” is designed for narrative
emphasis: the rules as written are still the norm. * Inclusive role-play opportunities: I strive
to appeal to a wide variety of playstyles at my table. * Challenging and engaging combat: you do not
need to solve every situation with a hack-and-slash approach. * Quality storytelling: I aim to translate my
deep familiarity with hundreds of pages of campaign materials into a vivid
experience for you to enjoy. * Detailed maps: I curate a wide variety of
maps for both combat and exploration. * New-player friendly: I am happy to teach
you the game in a fun and interactive way giving you the chance to play as you
learn.
* Actions have consequences: some
consequences are good and some are bad, but for the sake of building immersion,
I never “pull punches." I believe that some of the most memorable
experiences my players have had at my tables are caused by the “Dice Gods!”
