I've never had an issue before, but today I was unable to import a character from a game to my character vault, to back it up. Note this is NOT trying to export it to a game. Are there restrictions that are imposed on copying a character to the vault?
That is peculiar. Can you try it from another game and see if the issue is isolated to just that game? Try it with another character also to see if there is something with just that character.
I tried it again, and nothing happened. So I went to a different game where I'm the GM, and it loaded fine, with the following date
Added to Vault on 01/01/23 from the Bestiary game using the D&D 5E by
So I tried the first character again, and it saved showing the following date
Added to Vault on 12/31/22 from the Age of Kyuss game using the D&D 5E by
Not sure if that was an earlier attempt finally showing up. I've got a lot of copies of the latter, so maybe that's an issue.
FYI it is still 12/31/22 where I'm located.
The date/time is probably based on UTC.
So, it sounds like you did get it to copy? I guess strike it up to browser weirdness.
Isn't there a restriction on importing characters to your vault if you are not the person who originally created them? Is that the case here?

That has not been my experience. I create a character for a player they can send it to the vault.
The only restriction is, it must be a character you can control to export it. For importing, it must be a game created by a pro or plus subscriber, or one of a limited few modules that support character vault.
I created the character. I did get a copy, but I've tried several more times to no avail. It's the only character I cannot upload to the vault.
Ok, I bit the bullet and started deleting old versions. It didn't seem to be an issue with too many characters. I deleted a bunch of old, different characters, and that made no difference. It did seem to be an issue with too many copies of the same character. I started deleting old versions of this character (I use a lot of mods, so I make a lot of backups). As I started deleting copies, all the imports I had been making over the last few days started appearing. They were in the vault, but not displaying.
I deleted all those extraneous copies I had attempted over the last couple of days, and got the number down to around half a dozen. Now it works just fine.
FYI, I tried different browsers, but that didn't change anything prior to deleting copies of my character.
