Gryphyx said: Interesting idea. I do have a few questions to help determine if this is something I'd like to get into. First and foremost, what system? Would this just be a single table and people just log in whenever they want to grab a pickup game? Would there be defined potential start times or just a pure rolling start? How do you propose to handling what will soon become a large number of players of varying levels? Something like this can work, but usually only when you have one person, or a small core, who are ultra devoted to making it work. Are you that committed? I'm sure there are a huge amount of other considerations but those are the things that immediately pop into my mind. ***** Name: Gryphyx How Long You Have Played RPG: 32 years how Long You Have GM/DM'ed: On and off throughout those years. Currently DMing a low magic urban campaign. Played a lot more than DMed though. What kind of adventures do you like: All A few words about yourself and why you want to join: Cool idea. Not positive I want to join yet but I definitely want more info to determine if I want to join. Thank you Gryphx and I am very glad you brought those points as I am sure many others nay share the same worries. Firstly, I would like to gather a core group who is dedicated, as you said that would be absolutely MOST important part of this. I am open to any and all systems which would provide a fun world to play in and am even, open to the idea of a custom world with its own cultures and locales. let me take this time to say that at this stage, anyone who joins and is willing to help with the start up is in absolutely equal control over the story of the world, managing players, and writing lore IF THEY WISH TO DO SO. I really want this to be a team effort and would like to find experienced core people to help make this a reality. as for rolling starts vs schedule GM times. Both have pros and cons which in time will need to be assessed and adjusted, again going back to a solid core of creative GM'S. I want this to feel like a place where folks who can't attened a dedicated weekly to play and call home, timezones, family, life, and work prevent allot of would be avid players from enjoying their hobby. I hope this idea can remedy this. To and we the question outright, I would say at first maybe have set times every day, with GM's checking,in for players seeking pick ups as the week goes by. Maybe,in time with enough, interest we can start a sort of GM schedule so someone is normally always avaialable. now onto handling a large player base of varying levels. One thing I thought would be tricky was balancing encounters so that players one one end did not seem God like and the others gimped due to level. This is something I think the core team will have to discuss, maybe the world building process will fix this, if create a logical world where instead of scaling it to the players we scale it to reality based on what the world is supposed to be, we will have this handled. Players will be responsible for keeping a character sheet updated on the forum, GM's will be responsible for post session results on the forum as well as attendance for a session. Everything players gain and lose for the most part should be,noted somewhere, so as other DM's can keep track, again at the core, communication, teamwork, and all that warm and fuzzy. I was thinking making three main game rooms, on roll20 for players and GM's to use, use Skype and IRC to find players and GM'S as it is often easier than logging onto roll20 just to check. Lastly the use a forum for player registration character creation and for us GMs to gather and plot evil deeds. In short, my level of dedication to what this could be is overwhelming, I have been without a very dear to me hobby for too long, I feel I may not be the the only one out there in my situation and am willing to put in the time and effort to help coordinate and structure something like this. thank you for your time. if you would like to talk more please message me on Skype at BlueDayReborn my name should display Nosaj? have a great day!
