Hello. I've got a Sinbad / Arabian Nights game that could use one or two more players. Gameplay usually takes place shipboard, or in the ancient ruins and endless desert wastes, and thriving coastal metropolises of a semi-homebrewed world VERY roughly based on early middle-eastern culture. We're making no serious attempts to adhere to either
historical or literary accuracy, but we have most of the elements you
might expect from such a setting. The setting
and story are mostly home-brewed, but for expediency I shamelessly steal
ideas from other appropriate sources (Al-Qadim, The actual Arabian Nights, etc.) We are currently using the Genesys rules system, which is the same ruleset that was first introduced in the FFG Star Wars products. It's the one with the funny dice. We have an app in discord that rolls for us. You don't need to own the books, the basic rules only take a about 10 minutes to explain. No previous experience with the system is necessary but broad familiarity with RPGs in general would be helpful. Game play is
largely action-based but usually attempts to have some kind of story
gimmick or puzzle-based element welded to the action scenes. My goal is
create something more sophisticated than an endless stream of
combat encounters interrupted by brief NPC conversations. This system a pretty evenly balanced between mechanics and
storytelling. Players are encouraged to improvise and use the system to
creatively interpret die results instead of trying to game it for
maximum
effect. I want to see your heroes behaving heroically, not beating on
opponents you outclass, and not timidly avoiding danger. Try something
cool. Risk tragic failure. Either way that's a better story than just
cranking up your damage output. We play on Wednesdays (one or two week interval depending on player availability) at 7pm Eastern. PM me a rough character concept and/or questions if you're interested. This should be no more than a paragraph or so roughly describing (in English words) the character you're interested in playing. Thanks!
