Acolyte Recruitment; (Cell creation) thread

You can play characters from any of the following game lines DH (XP 400), RT (5,000 xp), OW (XP 2,600) and level them up to 7,000 or 8,000 if you want to take some Insanity in exchange for bonus XP. However owing to the natural and inclinations of a Puritanical monodominant Inquisitor nobody can play Radical characters, which means no Abhumans, Daemonhosts, Insane Cultists, or Psykers (except maybe a Nascent Psyker, although in that case expect to get executed for heresy rather early on). You can by all means play a Blank/Pariah character. I would suggest posting a reply in one of the pregen threads on the boards claiming one/dibs unless you already have a character made as the first session is this Saturday at 6 pm PDT.
Can you help me make the charachter? I am having a hard time Trying to make mine.
Sure. What is your concept?
Are we allowed to use the Inqusitior's Handbook classes? I would like to make a Metallican Gunslinger. Worst case scenario, I'll just run a Only War Storm Trooper or something.
Sure as long as it fits within the 7,000 to 8,000 xp starting limit. Metallican Gunslinger requires 0 xp, so it works. Knave of Pistols (Trait) Metallican Gunslingers are notoriously proud of their skill with pistols and eschew all other ranged weapons. With this Trait, you may not acquire new Basic or Heavy Weapon Training talents and may only take Exotic Weapon Training for pistols. If you already have training in ranged weapons that are not pistols, you may still use these Talents, but you take a –10 penalty on Ballistic Skill Tests. EDIT my only request in regards to your character is (if it won't invalidate your concept) can you make him somewhat Bounty hunter ish? I feel like we are missing the tracker/bounty hunter Harlon Nayl type guy.
Mathyas is ready to add more Confessions to his collection!
ill be making a dark heresy character. gonna be completely random with this boy

A Gunslinger has to be a Scum and for Scum I generally take the Brotherhood of Thollos which is effectively an underground bounty hunter/hitman-esque organization.

Or another scum, if you decide to go for the scum Acolyte you might think about picking up the Untouchable Elite advance. EDIT If you decide to make a second Commissar, Redfox's Commissar has all those bases covered already.
If Road wants to be a scum, I can be a Stormtrooper instead. I think my Stormtrooper story/background is much more fleshed out plus I tend to like the Only War system over DH 1st Edition.

I mean I did start with Dark Heresy 1st Edition but after getting into things like Only War and Black Crusade, I fell in love with that more. OF COURSE no clue about Dark Heresy 2nd Edition. So yeah, I'll make an Only War Stormtrooper. Since that site is down, do I start with 2600 spending XP or what due to the fact Only War and DH xp is wildly different.
Actually Can i be A commander from ONlly war?
Sergeant Gradute Promoted to commander. With several cormades.
I don't see why not.

For Dark Heresy, are we using 1.0 or 2.0? Like im pretty sure 2.0 from the posts, but just making sure.
Use whatever you are comfortable with. I have both. I'm easy. I just got 2.0 last week, I had run a couple games with the Beta test rules.
I want to ask how much starting XP we have and How much money? Also which books can we use we start from rank 1 with 400 xp ?

I'm thinking about making an Arbitrator, obviously he'll be combat savy but I intend to put a good amount of XP into investigation and such.
Julian K. said: I want to ask how much starting XP we have and How much money? Also which books can we use we start from rank 1 with 400 xp ? You start with 7,000 xp, you can if you choose get another 1000 xp by taking Insanity points, each Insanity point grants you +50xp. In addition, you receive a shared Influence rating of 40 (because I started running this before DH 2.0 came out), and a hypo-indoctrination package that instills the following skills and talents: Forbidden Lore (Cults, the Inquisition, and Ordo Hereticus), Linguistics (Glossia), Scholastic Lore (Cryptography), Survival +10, and [either Hatred (Heretics), Hatred (Mutants), or Hatred (Psykers)] and the Orthoproxy talent. You get four items of rare availability or less in addition to your starting gear. If you really want to use DH 1.0/the Inquisitor's Handbook to purchase equipment with gelt you have 3000 in coin (this was derived from calculating the maximum possible number of successes on a Routine requisition test for cash using the rules from Ascension), please don't purchase anything with an availability greater than rare. EDIT You can use all the Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Only War, and Dark Heresy Second Edition books. Investigation skills would be very helpful I think.
Just so that the new players know their characters represent a second cell of acolytes that will be arriving to assist the first cell as reinforcements. Transport was arranged for them aboard an Orion class star clipper belonging to the Tül Dynasty called the Amplissimum, that was forced to carry them to the Mechanicus mining colony of Rymer after the Inquisitor Dragur Gan received an astropathic message from a cell of acolytes that were headed there nearly two months ago in late 819.M41. The crew of the Amplissimum know that the new characters are members of the Imperium's Most Holy Inquisition but nothing else about their business. The Amplissiamum has been in transit for over eight weeks to deliver them. Its captain Lady Esmeralda Arcadion-Tül is unhappy since she was forced to abort an endeavor to deliver perishable high provender foodstuffs meant for the tables of the Lord Captains of the Imperial fleet in the Castobel system under orders from the Inquisition, and the clipper's captain is eager to get them off her ship before the acolytes discover the fact that the Tül Dynasty employs sanctioned Xenos while outside the bounds of the Imperium, and the ship is currently carrying over a hundred Loxatl mercenaries to protect its crew from Hive Fleet Dagon. The Lady Captain of the Amplissimum like most ship masters in the Tül Dynasty wears a suit of powder blue light power armor connected by cable to the ship for continuous power, its helmet sealed over her bald head except at formal dinners. The Amplissimum's statistics: Speed 10 VU Maneuverability +25 Detection 15 (but -3 in the Nebula) Hull Integrity 35 Armor 12 Turret Rating 1 Space 7 left Weapons: Jovian Missile Battery (keel), and Stygies-pattern Macrocannons (Dorsal) Crew rating : Competent 30% with a bonus of +10% from Lady Esmeralda presence. Essential Components: Bilge-Rat Crew Quarters, Commerce Bridge, Gellar Field, Lathe-pattern Class 1 Drive, Mark 201.b Auger Array, Main Cargo Hold (pre-installed), Single Void Shield Array, Vitae Pattern Life Sustainer, and Strelov 1 Warp Engine,
mrlost said: carrying over a hundred Loxatl mercenaries to protect its crew from Hive Fleet Dagon. Oh God-Emperor no ... not freaking Loxatl.
The Amplissimum stops off at the Astropathic Relay/Mechanicus Research station on the edge of the Nebula before heading into the radioactive soup that surrounds the Gamma Quindecimus system. While berthed, at the station they can observe another House Tül voidship, the Vast, a Mass Conveyor towing a Secutor pattern Adeptus Mechanicus defense monitor into the system. The monitor is a dedicated non-Warp capable system patrol escort named the Haddrak Illuminatus .
