Hi Liam! Are you copying the text from elsewhere and pasting it into the handout? That might bring in unwanted html elements. If this is the case, you could try selecting all the text, applying the "Normal" style and pressing the erase formatting button. That doesn't always catch some formatting characters, though. the absolute safest thing to do would be to pass the text through a text-only text editor, like Notepad, or Text Wrangler on the Mac.
