The air is still, musty. After finding yourself trapped you have joined up with others who have awoken, and begun exploring the darkened palace. You have gained some skill and some knowledge, and seek to unravel the mystery binding you and the other townsfolk. For days your world has been reduced to a small bubble of light, or the greyscale of darkvision, cold rations and poor rests on the cold floor. Tense and alert you stalk the darkened halls of decaying stone, questions tumbling in your mind like dice in a cup. What has befallen you? STORY PROGRESS The party has learned learned that the palace is under the enchantment of a powerful fey being known as Arik of the Red Gloom, and the know how the red dome trapping the palace might be dispelled. Soon after they fought a medusa, losing one member to her stony gaze. The fate of the others is uncertain. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the castle, another group of townsfolk have awoken, and are beginning to explore along in the footsteps of the previous group. The first floor has mostly been explored, and the players are now beginning to explore the second floor, where the more powerful followers of Arik have gathered. Survive, navigate the denizens of the darkened palace, and seek your freedom from the spell by finding a way to break it! * Encounters will not be balanced, forcing the players to be cautious and selective about entering combat and exploring the castle as they may easily run into foes they cannot defeat…although there are plenty of equal challenges for the untested characters!
