[D&D 5th] The attack and damage dice roll buttons won't work.

So, I'm pretty new to the whole Roll20 system, and I don't know if this is pretty obvious here, but I just want to ask why my players and I can't seem to use the attack and damage dice rolls in the character sheets found in D&D Next/D&D 5th Edition. one of players can use it. I can use it on one of three NPCs. Everyone else? Nope. Can anyone shed light on why this is happening? Thanks!

Moved to the Character Sheet forum. When you say you can't use it what exactly happens?

Well, me and my players click the button/shortcut, but nothing happens. We wait, and click on it a few more times, but the only one with any luck is one of my players who can't explain how he makes it work (it just works for him) and one of my NPCs, which I can't explain either. Edit: I just tried to duplicate the character sheets and checked out if the copies can roll. Apparently not. Edit 2: Okay, so I figured that new character sheet don't seem to have the problem. I guess it's just a bug on my part.

Which character sheet are you using....the "Next" one which is old and only for use with the playtest rule set, or the 5e one? also, have you filled I. The rest of the sheet with stats and so on? Did you switch over the sheet your campaign was using or is this a totally new consign/character with no preexisting attributes before using the sheet?
This is the D&D 5e version of the sheets and the stats have all relevant stats have been assigned. We actually just started this campaign today and the first time we played D&D 5th on Roll20. Which is exactly why I'm really clueless as heck because I was able to generate new sheets that don't have the problem, but generating a new sheet for a specific player always has one.

Apologies for the broken english of my last reply...thats what i get for writing it quickly on my phone earlier today. The character sheet system as a whole doesnt react very well if a sheet is used on any character that already had attributes assigned to it (either because you added them manually or because you previously used another sheet)...particularly if the attribute names match. If thats the case that could explain the random results...especially if you dont see the same problems when you create a brand new character. Most commonly this has been reported with the 5e sheet if you used the playtest "Next" sheet and then switched over to the 5e one using the same characters...or if you previously used no sheet but you or your players had added attributes yourselves to create your own macros. This would be my best guess of what could cause the issues you mentioned.

Well, we haven't added our own macros (yet). Is there a way to resolve the issue or do I have to ask the player to change a part of his character sheet if he wants to use the attack and damage rolls. Edit: Okay, so now, whenever I roll for another character, it keeps saying "Please Enter A Number" on top of the weapon column. What does that mean? Edit: Nevermind, apparently, it was because I messed up the age. The character still won't roll however.

The number issue is your browser making sure that data entered into certain fields matches what the field expects...this wouldn't have impacted rolling though and the behaviour you would have seen would vary from browser to browser. it's difficult to say what your other issue is without more information. Could you perhaps post a screenshot of, for example, the weapon section of the sheet so I can see the data you have filled in to check whether or not any of that could be causing a problem. Also you haven't confirmed whether or not the characters this is failing on previously had attributes setup for them.
Sorry if this sounds kind of dumb, but how do I check if my browser is making sure that data matches in their respective fields? Also, I was able to rectify the other problem. It was simply the character sheet telling me that I can't input letters in the Age category in the background tab and after inputting a number, it was resolved.

I think we've crossed wires a little bit here. Please correct me if anything I say below is incorrect. Your first problem is, and continues to be, that you do not get any output when using the macro buttons in the character sheet. In order to help you diagnose what could be causing this please can you post a screenshot of one of the sections that isnt working for you...like for example the weapon section. The screenshot will let me see what data you have added to the fields as well as any error message in the chat window from your unsuccessful attempts to use the macro buttons. Your second problem was that some fields in the sheet, specifically the age field was mentioned, were reporting an error message telling you to "Please enter a Number". You resolved this by changing the entry in the Age field to only be a number instead of also adding other text. What I said was that this error wasnt actually the sheet telling you there was a problem it was your browser highlighting that a particular field had an entry in it that it didnt expect according to the way the sheet had been written. This error comes from the browser and is different according to how strictly your browser enforces the validation rules the sheet is written with...like for example that the Age field should be numbers only. Some browsers dont enforce this at all and would not have shown any error message to you. I understand that this error has been resolved as you have updated the Age field now to only contain numbers....my comments were only intended to demonstrate why you received the error in the first place and not suggest a course of action. ------- To help you with problem #1 (the macro buttons producing no output) can you post a screenshot of a section that does not work for you so that I can see if the data entered into the sheet looks good and to see if there are any error messages output to the chat window when you try to use the macro buttons? Also, can you confirm that you do not seem to have this problem when you create a completely new character in your campaign?
Oh, okay. Sorry if I misunderstood what you were saying. English isn't my first language so I have a hard time trying understand it at times. Anyway, I've created several new characters, and all of them do not have this problem. However, whenever I try to re-do this specific character (making a new character sheet and inputting all the stats manually) this happens. This is a picture of the character sheet as well as the chatbox. I've clicked the attack and damage buttons several times but it refuses to show anything, not even an error.

Everything looks good on the screenshot so I am not sure why you would have problems.. The only thing I can say is that this character may have already had attributes/data setup for it that conflicts with the data in the character sheet. You said the you only see the problem when you "redo" this character....where did this character come from? Have you used this character previously, perhaps with another sheet or in a campaign before the character sheet feature was available? Have you tried starting a new character and entering all the same data from the broken one to see if it works?
It's a completely new character for this campaign and it hasn't been used in any of my previous games. By re-do, I mean adding a new character sheet and re-entering the same data. I can make a new character sheet and put in different data and it works just fine, but this specific character, no matter how many times I do it, won't roll.
This is probably a specific case where you somehow have an attribute with an invalid value to work with the macro. I run into this all of the time. Anytime something is not working, that is usually my first stop.

Bryan K is likely correct....if you are only seeing the problem on 1 specific character with a specific set of data entry then its most likely that some of the data is causing the problem. If you PM me a link to your campaign and give me access to the character I will try and take a look to see what the problem is when i have some free time (not likely to be for a day or so). Alternatively, post some more screenshots of the character sheet, specifically the core stats section and the class section as a large number of the rolls that are not working for you will rely on data from these fields. Another sign that something might be wrong somewhere is if any of the auto calculated fields (those shaded in green) are blank so have a look through the problem character sheet for those.
I looked for any empty green fields, but there's none to be found. Here are some screen shots of the sheets.

It's the bonus fields....remove the + signs from them and you should be good to go
It worked. Thanks a bunch!
