What is Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC)? As the name implies, DCC is an oldschool fantasy rpg about delving into dungeons and going on adventurers to get treasure. It is a lethal game where death can lurk behind every corner and characters mostly survive by their wits rather than their character sheets. If you are coming from 5e you'll find a lot of familiarity in the rules and it'll be easy to pick up. What's the campaign like? We will start off by playing a short starter adventure (a so called level-0 funnel) and if I think the group works well together the game will expand into a wider open world campaign. What should I expect from the game? - Characters are all at constant risk of death, which is why you will be provided with backup characters - Magic is powerful but extremely unpredictable and dangerous for the caster and those around them - Oldschool play is more about player skill than what's on your character sheet, there are no "perception" checks to instantly discover a hidden door or "deception" checks to fool a suspicious town guard. You have to say exactly where you are looking or what tall tale you are telling the guard. - Sometimes avoiding monsters is better than fighting them and enemy encounters are not perfectly balanced for the party to overcome. Know when to cut your losses and run. - Preparation and planning is key. Do I need to know all the rules? No! DCC is simple enough to pick up and play with only the basics, and we'll all learn as we go along. That's it!
