I’m starting up a one- or two-player game of Burning Wheel. I’m EST and available Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 700 to 1030, although I generally find that roughly two hours is good for one- or two-on-one games. Monday should open up in about a month and a half or so. I have some Big Picture and Situation ideas that we can discuss. It will be set in a world I’ve been working on for a bit, which we can also discuss. The game will be a quest that’s high in adventure and low in politics. I’ll be taking tones from Lord of the Rings, Uprooted, Willow (the movie, not the show), the isometric Baldur’s Gate games, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Quest for Glory. It won’t be grimdark, The Witcher, George Martin, or Bakker. It won’t involve sex; sexual, gender, or racial violence, slurs, or bigotry; slavery; or harm to children. I’m not a perfect GM and I’m not a perfect Burner, but I try, I learn, and I listen to my players. I’ve run three one-on-ones and two two-on-ones, and I’ve played in one one-on-one and one two-on-one (all BW), so I’d like to think I have a decent handle on some of the pitfalls. One of those pitfalls occurs in a two-on-one game when the PCs can’t share scenes or support each other, or when they have completely different goals, so I’ll only run a two-on-one for people who know each other already, since that helps with PC cohesion. If you’re interested, ping here or DM. Looking forward to hearing from you!
