New Background Page Settings issues

So I see that Roll20 dropped a new stealth change regarding the backgrounds and their coloration now automatically being whatever the dominant map color is that you have. It's an interesting feature, but every time I make a new map page, it is automatically active so I have to go into the settings and disable it for each and every single new map that I make. And one of my friends just found it has affected dozens of his map pages for his campaign already set up and all future ones he wants to put in. Is there a way to possibly make it so it isn't turned on by default?
Yes, this is incredibly frustrating. I had to go through all of my maps and turn off this dumb background change, which I did not want nor did I ask for. Why on earth would the Devs push through a stealth change and set it to "on" for all maps? Why? I should be working on my upcoming game, but instead I have to deal with this nonsense.

How exactly is it a stealth change if it's in the changelog? Also, how is this a bug? It may be a minor inconvenience for you but this probably isn't a bug. You could put a post in suggestions and ask for a default setting to be standard. You can also go into game settings on your game page and go to game default settings and set your preference how you wish it to be.

Hi Quinton and Irondrake, I can understand your frustration. Whenever a change like this comes up the Devs have a hard decision to make. Enable it for everyone who wants it, or leave it disabled for the few that would be annoyed by it. This has been desired since the beginning of Roll20. I know that I have been asking for a way to control the color of the border around the table for 10+ years. With that said, perhaps you can ask the Devs to give you a choice when a new feature comes out. You may wish to make a suggestion in the Suggestion Forum about that.
Hi Quinton and Irondrake, Thanks for your feedback about the new background settings. I totally understand how you can feel annoyed when we change something like that and it affects you negatively right before a game. Perhaps there's a few things we could have improved about the way we rolled out this change. I'd love to chat with you sometime about your thoughts and feedback. I've got a few ideas and even some questions I'd love to run by you. If you have the time and you're interested, here's a link to my calendar. You can use it to find the best time for you and send an invite to us both . https://calendly.com/acsearles/background-settings Thanks again!

Just tested it and I can say for sure that "Apply Default Settings" Does NOT work with this New feature! Steps to reproduce: 1. Have some Maps in a Roll20 campain active (and hence this as it is active by default!) 2. DISABLE this Feature in Game Settings 3. Apply Default Settings in Campaign Expected: ALL Existing Maps are changed and this feature is turned off. What actually happens: For existing Maps, NOTHING! This is even MORE ANNOYING if you have purchased Modules from the Marketplace with a ton of maps already included! Could you PLEASE turn this OFF by Default?! Thanks to this I have to check EVERY SINGLE MAP in ALL MY ACTIVE CAMPAIGNS and DISABLE IT in order to make the campaigns playable again without them being an eyesore! I am selecting ONLY 1 Checkbox: the one for this feature! And as stated it SHOULD have the effect of turning this setting off for each and every map there is, but it does NOT... (Note that I disabled the toggle to use the most prominent color of the map for background in Game Settings; THIS I hoped to disable for each and every map!) Also came here to report that changing the game settings with this new feature does nothing for existing maps. I'm trying to change my background to a nice dark grey for all my maps but it continues to use the "Apply the Dominate Color from Map Layer" option even when it's turned off. Hell, "Apply the Dominate Color from Map Layer," isn't even consistent. It only affects some of my maps... some of the time. The maps it affects changes as I log in and out of the game. WTF?

Unless I am mistaken you will need to have it apply both the Backdrop Color and the Apply Dominant Color. If you are only applying Backdrop Color then Apply Dominant Color may still be functioning.

Just tested it. With BOTH checkboxes checked it works... BUT I wonder why this is turned ON by DEFAULT for each and every campagin! Why not turn it OFF by Default, so if you want to use it you can enable it?! And THIS here is true! Hell, "Apply the Dominate Color from Map Layer," isn't even consistent. It only affects some of my maps... some of the time. The maps it affects changes as I log in and out of the game. WTF?
Adding my voice to the "please shut off by default" and "please have a global setting to affect all maps".

Matt E. said: Adding my voice to the "please shut off by default" and "please have a global setting to affect all maps". These already exist. If you go to your Campaign Details page you can set up how any new page is displayed. Additionally you can apply them to all maps via Apply Default Settings. With that said, there have been reports that Apply Dominant Color from Map Layer has had some hiccups (not applying it without turning it on/off or moving an image on the map layer).
