The Dessarin Valley has a sordid past but in recent years has been a rather calm and quiet place full of people getting away from the hussle and bussle of the Swords Coast and big cities. Here you are more likely to find fields of crops and livestock than a person, along with the occasional monster infected area. Lately though things have been weird. More monsters have been appearing all over the place, crime and banditry has risen considerably. But, most worryingly for the farmers, the weather becoming much more unpredictable and dangerous. Tremors, downpours of rain that turn into flooding, strong wind, and forest fires all threaten the livelihoods of many people in these lands. On top of all of this, two tendays ago an important delegation from the city of Mirabar disappeared in the Sumber Hills. Amid all of this chaos and confusion, rumors are spreading about what could possibly be going on, ranging from bandits being too bold to it being a sign of the end times. Prominent factions within Faerun have started to take notice of these issues going on and are becoming concerned, sending in some of their own forces to figure out just what is going on. Could an intrepid group of adventurers get to the bottom of all of this? This module takes you through an adventure, starting you at level 1 and finishing at about level 13. Along the way there is the main plot line, but many side treks/quests that will take you all over the Dessarin Valley and face many foes. It provides many opportunities for combat, roleplaying, intrigue, dungeon diving, and much more. If you're looking for a campaign that includes just about everything, this is the one for you! As stated in the title of this post, I am looking for 4-5 players to join this new campaign that I plan to run on Saturdays from 5 pm to 9 pm EST. I use Discord for voice chat and roll20 for the actual playing of D&D, though for character creation I am fine with players using the roll20 sheets or using the Chrome extension Beyond20 to make their sheets on D&DBeyond and be able to roll and use them on roll20. I typically allow for any kind of build, save for the Lucky feat and possibly one or two other things that aren't at the forefront of my mind. I am also fully open to homebrew or unearthed arcana material, I would just have to approve it beforehand. I also have a few house rules for some class features. For example, for Wild Magic Sorcerer, I like to play it where the wild magic surge roll requirement increases by 1 every time the d20 is rolled and there is no surge. So, for the first time the Sorcerer casts a level 1+ spell, they have to roll a 1 to get a surge. The next time they have to roll a 1 or a 2, then the next time a 1, 2, or 3, and so on. I am fully willing to work with people to make their character concepts work within reason of course. Along with whatever backstory players give their characters, each character will be given a plot hook, or as I would describe it a personal mission, for their character to have and strive for to give just a bit more motivation for their character. These personal missions will be chosen at random to hopefully give a wide variety of motivations and goals. Players can also be a part of one of these groups: The Harpers, The Order of the Gauntlet, The Emerald Enclave, The Lords' Alliance, and The Zhentarim. Being a part of one of these groups will give your character contacts throughout the Dessarin Valley that can possibly provide information and supplies needed to complete your quest.
