Click n drag handout to specific player

Hi all I saw a thread for this that was a year old, didn't want to necro that, though obviously necromancy is a time honoured and distinguished career path for anyone to explore.  We're playing BGDIA and I wanted to share a handout for a document written in Infernal.  No problem, dropped it on the desktop, show to all.  I also wanted to share the translated version with the tiefling for RP giggles, but click, drag and drop onto their player name in the bottom of the DM screen (or their avatar) did nothing.  Time was pressing and so I shared it via Discord, but am aware I could have also changed share with to just this player.  Was I doing something wrong?  All the info I have found indicates it is just a click n drag onto the avatar or name, which would be nice and simple

I don't see that functionality in the wiki nor have I heard of it. However, if you click "Edit" and then manually set the player(s) you want to see it any instance of "Show to Players" after that will show it directly to that player(s) only.  Edit: after some testing dropping it on a users avatar will function identically to "Show to Players". If it is set to no player it will ask you to show everyone. If you have it set to a player or players it will show it to those players enabled to see it.  However, I am getting an artifact of the drag and drop when that happens necessitating a refresh to clear it. For this reason I don't recommend this method.  Edit 2: Nope, I found it in the  wiki  after doing some rereading. The full phrase is: " You can also drag and drop a Handout from the Journal tab in the right sidebar onto a player. That player will be given permission to view the Handout, and it will also appear on their screen immediately." That does not appear to be working. I suggest filing a bug report via the  Help Center  as the forums are primarily for users helping users.  The functionality might have been lost in the updates to the Voice and Video system. Edit 3: Yup, I tested each Voice and Video option and it is not working in None or Legacy WebRTC, but it is still functional in Integrated Voice and Video.
Cheers Gauss, glad to know it's not just me.  I was just testing with a dummy account and trying all of the video settings just in case that affected it in any way (eliminate all possibilities no matter how improbable) but to no avail.  I'll file a bug report now as it is potentially quite useful as a trick

Hi Simon,  This bug has been fixed today . If you notice any further issues with it please let me know. " Resolved an issue where handouts could not be dragged to individual players over their in-game avatar if "Video Tech" was set to "Legacy Roll20 WebRTC" or "None.""
Hi, no internet here since Monday 🙈 but have just got a temp fix and tested, all seems to work-  drag handout over until a yellow border appears around the player concerned and drop away (comes up when mouse hits that player) - we noticed if dropped before that box came up then it auto shared with everyone (though it was handout that had been previously shared with all, so maybe that's why that happened??).  Sorted for next game though, great news.  Take care, Simon

If you drop it on a player it goes to that player. This is correct behavior.
Hiya, I thought you had to also click the "Show to Everyone" tab?  I had done that previously for the item in question and so wondered whether previous shares were remembered

The popup to asking to show to everyone is appearing for me. Is it not appearing for you?
Hi Gauss, yes it is.  I should have been clearer; I dragged a handout over to a player and let it go once it was over their name.  It then shared with everyone without me clicking "Share to Everyone", but in hindsight, I didn't want to give any spoilers and so had used an old handout that had previously been shared with all.  I assume therefore that permission is not sought the second time as the handout has the dot against it showing permissions.  To effectively share secretly, and this is the bit I wanted to stress for anyone that hasn't tried before, drag until the mouse cursor goes over the player AND a yellow border appears around the player name/ avatar.  That is when you release it and share with just that individual.  I wasn't aware of the border and thus it was a (brief) bit of trial and error before we sussed it.

Ahhh ok, it sounds like everything is working properly then. Please let me know if something is not working as expected.
