[LFP][D&D5E][Homebrew][Fridays 6-9pm PST][18+] Formoria - The Age of Shadow

About the DM:  (45M) I first started playing D&D in middle school, so First and Second Edition, and DM'd for my friends all through Middle, High School and even College. By the late College years we had switched to 3E/3.5E. Then we got jobs, spouses, houses, kids, etc. etc. Life took us all elsewhere. This will be my second campaign using Roll20 and the 5E rules. We are adding the Adventures in Middle Earth rules this go around, modified to suit this homebrew campaign setting.  Players Wanted:  2 Players to add to the group we already have from our last campaign. We'll start at Level 1 and go from there.  Game Setting:  Homebrew campaign setting – Asterra (Formoria). This setting was developed through playing D&D campaigns for over 20 years. It is a Gritty campaign setting - thematically similar to Dark Ages (Arthurian) Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire. Life is nasty, brutal, and short, and the heroes are those that can survive long enough in a world brimming with strange beasts and horrible monsters. Mix LoTR with GoT and you'll have a good approximation. Note; for this campaign we are using the classes from Adventures in Middle Earth, and Cultures specific to this setting. This will be a Low-Magic Setting.  Play Style:  I am heavy on improvisation. I don't plan out my campaigns in great detail. Instead there is a setting, and things are happening in the world, which the players can react to or not. There are villains and terrible tyrants with evil motives, which players can choose to go up against or not. Obviously I intend for players to take a hook, but which one? and in which direction? The player's decisions will inform how I plan the next session and thus the direction of the campaign. Actions do have consequences and shape the world. The Players are the Heroes, not the villains! Commitment:  I am looking for players to commit to one 3 hour weekday evening session (Pacific Time) per week. And possibly up to one longer weekend per month, depending on the appetites of the group. Please be committed to attending. Frequent absences will result in being dropped from the campaign.   Interested in Joining the Party?:  Drop me a PM with a brief description of who you are, your favored style of play and what type of character you want to bring.  Formoria - The Age of Shadow 363 A.K.:  More than 50 years after the Wars of the Dalelands, the newly formed Kingdom of Ardaran has become a beacon of light for the region. The Free Peoples of the Dalelands have become accustomed to a new sense of peace and security. But the lands have not completely been cleansed of the Shadow. Darkness still haunts the deepest parts of both the Wyrmwood and the Spiderwood, the Orcs of the Seven Tribes hide and lick their wounds among ancient Dwarven ruins in the Iron Mountains and the Smoking Mountains, the sawtooth hills still harbor the lairs of the Baahlspawn, and no one dares to cross the Ashen Pass into the Darkmire of Vaadmoor, for there lie horrors beyond mortal comprehension.
The first Formoria campaign we wrapped up was a very rewarding experience. I'm looking forward to developing more characters with the group in this next one!
I am interested, but have some questions. 1: The Time of game session? 2: Will players have some opportunity to advance technology at all? (I am a massive Artificer fan and love to bring change from the background) As an Aussie it is terribly hard to find games at times that work for someone like myself, most of the time its extremely early morning (As in 3-5am) for me and it causes problems a few weeks into most game to the point I have to back out so the other players don't lose out. If you think It can work please let me know through pm's here on Roll20 or on discord at ScruffyMadman67#9792
Google says you are +17hours so the game sessions would be Saturdays, 11:00am-2:00pm for you.  Artificer is not an available class; and technology and equipment are pretty limited to match the setting. We are using the Adventures in Middle Earth Classes, and rules in addition to the core 5E Mechanics. Basically 5E rules for combat etc. and AiME rules for almost everything else. Cultures (the AiME version of races), Backgrounds and Virtues have been altered to match the Homebrew Setting, as we are not actually playing a Middle Earth campaign. So its a bit of a Kit Bash.
